10. A day in my life

After a very peaceful sleep, I woke up in his arms after one exhausting week. My eyes fluttered open to see a siphoner in front of my eyes with an untroubled expression while sleeping.

His chest rose when he took a deep breath in his sleep. I noticed a scar on his right cheek, The scar that he made me touch last night– Cheek to be precise– The scar signified the pain and struggle he had been through for one week. I guess, he had his bad days too after coming out of the prison world.

As much as I observed him in his sleep, I regretted being mad at him. I can't imagine that I was so selfish with him that I ignored his troubles. These regretful thoughts washed over my mind and made my stomach flip in cringe after remembering the moment when I called him 'Malachai'.

I held his wrapped hand and pulled it closer as my eyes brimmed with tears. I wanted to apologize to him so badly that I just can't wait to see him wake up from his sleep.

My guilt was killing me inside out until I felt Kai's hand caressing my cheek which made me calm down a bit. His eyes were still closed yet there was a composed smile on his face like he can feel every single cell of my cheek under his fingertips.

His thumb brushed down below my eyes and this is where his facial expression changed. He jolted his eyes open and furrowed his eyebrows as soon as he felt my tears on his fingers. "Hey, are you okay?", Kai mumbled in his torpid state. I slowly nodded and pulled him in a hug.

As soon as he felt me close to him, he hugged me back without any hesitation. He was practically spooning me while my hands were around his waist. I sniffled at his chest and muttered, "I'm sorry!".

He stroked my back gently and chuckled, "Okay, I didn't expect that our morning would be like this!"

I shook my head and replied, "No, I mean it! I- I was way too mad at you last night." He fiddled with my hair and said, "Hey, do you know, your hair is dark brown and not black?". I looked up to meet his blue eyes in uncertainty and furrowed brows as I retorted, "What?"

He nodded whilst caressing my hair and putting some of my hair strands behind my ear. "No, They are black!", I implied.

"No, they aren't, they are dark brown. I just noticed them in the light.", He stated and resumed playing with my hair while I felt comfortable being close to him, snuggling. We had never been this close to each other but now it feels like forever.

I took another view of him again. The sunlight was trailing from his face, cheek, and upper lip to be precise while his eyes were glimmering with the awed look he pulled on his face as I caught him staring at me.

I looked down and closed my eyes slightly after I felt that we had both caught each other staring. I was quite embarrassed so I dipped down to hide my face only to feel his hard chest against my face. And this was the moment I realized that we are cuddling like couples on a bed with legs on each other. I shook my body gently to shift back from him.

Surprisingly, Kai didn't comment on this and sat up. He ran his hands through his hair and smirked whilst eyeing me constantly as I was adjusting my clothes and picking up my jacket which was lying down on the floor.

I saw my phone on the table and attempted to reach for it to check what was going on on that device. Shockingly, There were 46 missed calls from Damon, 20 missed calls from Jeremy and 9+ messages. I tapped on Jeremy's messages and read them all. He was worried about me and was promising me that he won't do drugs again ever in his life. He pleaded to come back and he will explain everything.

I sighed and didn't reply to any of his texts because it did break my heart that even if I didn't get to know him last night where was he, I finally found out that he is doing drugs.
