Rose's POV

[[[Dream]]]

I was running in a forest it was dark and creepy. There were no birds singing but ravens crying all over the forest. I was afraid and scared. I focused on myself, with every step I took there were branches breaking underneath my feet. Then I heard growl a beastly growl now I was really scared I focused on all directions for look out and then I saw them his eyes. It was a big giant black wolf that came out. He was really big, I thought that wolves were much smaller but he was over towering me. I looked at him and he was looking at me with adoration eyes. Why would he look at me like that? When I looked back at his eyes there was something familiar about them. But I couldn't quite put my finger on it. He stepped closer to me with every step he took I took a step back. I was terrified is he going to kill me? When my back hit the tree I knew that is was my death. Let me tell you one thing I was not ready to die and absolutely not in this way. The wolf stood in front off me and looked at me. I didn't know what to do so I put out my hand and closed my eyes waiting for the pain to come. But after a while I still didn't feel anything that's when I felt something cold and slimy against my palm. I opened my eyes and saw that the wolf was sniffing my hand. I stood there shocked that he didn't attack me but instead he is licking my hand. I got some sort off confidence and began stroking him behind his ear with my other hand. The big black wolf enjoyed it and leaned in on my hand. He looked at me with his ocean blue eyes.
That's when I opened my eyes and found myself on my bed with my whole body sweating. I took a deep breath in and out. That was a wired dream. Those eyes where did I see them they were so familiar to me. I shook my head to get over the wolf from my dream. I stood up and wore my most appropriate dress that I owned but there weren't many. I combed my hair and washed my face. I prepared breakfast and cleaned the house before my parents woke up. When I was done with everything I woke up my parents for breakfast.
"Be careful my child!" My mama said to me while giving me a big hug and a kiss on the forehead. "I will mama." I said back to her with a little smile. "We love you honey." My father told me while I was wearing my cape. "I love you too mama, papa!" I said at verge of tears. "Do not cry my child everything will be okay." My mama said comforting me. " I swear I think I'm forgetting something honey but I don't know what , I think I'm getting old." My mother mumbled to her self."Take the horse my child the castle is a little further up the village." My father told me while putting his hand on my shoulder in comforting manner. "But papa you will need the horse more then I do, I will manage to make it without it." I said disagreeing with him. "Do not worry my child just take the horse." My father said with a smile on his face. Just when I was to go my mother said "Oh god I almost forgot I'm such a terrible mother I nearly forgot!" She came running up to me and giving me big hug. "What is this for mother I'm not going to die mama." I said while hugging her back. "No you silly it's your birthday, and I'm so sorry for forgetting honey." She said while a tear slid down her cheek. "Oh mama do not worry much I myself forget." I said while smiling. I noticed my father going back inside. "Come Rose with us for a little moment we need to give you something." I nod and walked back inside with my mama beside me. "Happy birthday kid today you turned eighteen." My father said while hugging me. "Father mother it's not that important." I said while waving my hand as dismissal. "Oh honey but it is  a really important age for a young lady like you." My mother said while getting something from the little closet in our house. "This wile protect you till you find your mate." My father explained. I was really confused what were they talking about. "Mama papa what do you mean till I find my mate and how will a necklace protect me?" I asked really confused. "You will find out soon enough honey, you need to wear this and never take it off till you are marked." My mother explained. I looked at the necklace and it was beautiful. It was round like a diamond and when you looked closely you could see a wolf in it. Ha what a coincidence not long ago I was dreaming about one. "Thank you mama papa this is beautiful. But I can't take it it must have coast a  fortune." I said looking at it. "Do not worry my child this belonged to you the moment you were born." My father said. My parents were not making any sense right now maybe they were really getting old. "Now go before you get late." My mama said. We bid each other our last goodbye, and I took off. The way to the castle was a bit longer then I expected. The whole way to there the only thing I could think about were my parents and the necklace they gave me. When I arrived at the castle there were guards everywhere. When I was about to pas the guards at the big gate stopped me to check if I was not of  harm. "Were are you headed young lady?" The guard with a beard asked me. "I'm here to attend the meeting off today sir." I replied to his questions. "Well if you would get down from your horse then my guard will guid you the way." He said while pointing at the man behind him. "If you do not mind me asking sir where would my horse go?" I asked concerned about Fabio. Yeah I know even the horse, even the horse. "My other guard will take him to the stalls, do not worry his is in good hands." He reassured me. "Okay thank you sir." I said with a smile. I followed behind the guard all the way to the back door of the castle were the maiden and all the staff use I suppose. He opened the door and I was met with a wonderful scent off fresh made bread and dishes. When I walked through the door I was surprised by how many people were preparing food and some washing the dishes. There was a woman who was giving instructions to everyone. The guard walked to her and said "Madam this girl here is for the meeting of the maidens". "Ah I see, you may follow me." She said looking me up and down. She looked like a really strict woman, you could see that by how everyone was doing what they are supposed to do. "Don't be afraid sweetie everything is going to be alright." She said without turning around. I doubt that I thought to myself but I didn't say anything in reply to her I just continued following her down a hall a very big one might I add. "So what's your name?" She asked me politely. I really didn't expect her to be so nice, I more expected her to be a mean old lady. "M..My name is Rosalinda, but people call me Rose, ma'am" I replied stuttering at the beginning. "What a beautiful name, I'm Carol Bright and please call me Carol, well when we are alone." She said to me  turning for a brief moment with a small smile. "We're here. Don't be afraid just be at your best behavior and everything will be alright." I nod at her and the guards opened the big door in front of us. When we went inside it was magical it was beautiful. A big chandelier in the middle of the big room, I think it my be the throne room. When I looked down from the magnificent chandelier. I saw the room packed with young ladies. I guess this is where we are going to meet our king and now our future is going to be made in this room right here. The chandelier doesn't seem that important anymore. The doors opened at the other side of the room and a few guards came in and behind them walked the king and he went straight to his seat. I was really nervous, I kept thinking about what's going to happen to us all in here. I hope everything is going to be alright. "Every single young lady has made it your majesty." A man said to the king. "That's good to hear. Now give them their tasks." He said looking at all off us. "All of you are going to be tested to see how good you are or how bad and we will tell you in which quarter you'll be working, and as you can see not all of you are going to qualify in this task because there are to much and we need just a few." The man explained. "Like Roland explained every single one off you is going to be tested shortly the head maids will come in and each you will get a master, if you do a good and you get your position you will be rewarded because you aren't slaves but maidens, now do I make my self clear!" His majesty explained. He sounded really bored like he really doesn't care about any of this. Ugg then why go through all this trouble if you are not interested! "Rosalinda Marie Costas" I turned around looking for who was calling me and saw that is was that man from before. I think they were calling our names. I walked up to him and said: " yes, sir" with a little smile. "You will be working with madam Bright." He replied pointing to her. "Thank you sir." I said with a little bow of my head. I walked up to her and waited till she was done talking. "Much luck lady Launor." She said with a nod to the lady in front of her before turning to me. "Hallo madam Bright, it's an honor to work with you." I said with a bright smile. " I'm glad you're happy that I'm your tutor." She said with a smile. "Now let's get to work young lady." I followed behind her to where ever she was going. I think if I was alone I would get lost here, it was a big castle. When we went up the stairs I was so under a spell by the beauty off this castle that I didn't smell this wonderful scent off the woods with a cannel hint to it. It was wonderful beyond my words. I looked around from where it my have come but no such luck. Madam Bright opened up a door off a dark and stuffy room. When she opened the curtains I was shocked by how big it was. It was a mess! "This is your first task, you need to make this room look new then we are going to test your cooking and then you can rest and tomorrow you will know what you position will be. When you're done ring this bell and I will come back to pick you up, understand?" She asked. "Yes I do thank you ma'am." I said while bowing my head. "You're such a sweetheart Rose and I told you you can call me Carol." She said with a smile. I smiled back and started working. I looked around the room and decided to begin with the giant bed. When I was done I was really proud because I was done in a short amount of time. I know because I found this hourglass and I'm finished and it is still running. I went up to the bell and rang it. I looked around for one more time, and the room looks spotless. Just then Madam Bright walked in and she was surprised by the look off her face. "Rose sweetheart you did a wonderful job, to be honest with you I never thought this room would be livable again." She said laughing at the end then she smiled at me . "Thank you ma'am" I said proudly with a laugh. "Now follow me we're going to the kitchen and you will get to prepare something for yourself as dinner if you do a good job you will have dinner if not you will have to sleep without." She said while going down the stairs and down the big hall. When we reach the door of the kitchen the wonderful smell off the food hit me again then my stomach started to make those wired sounds of hunger. Madam laughed and looked at me." Looks like you will have to do a good job at your cooking honey." I smiled at her and nod. She gave me all kinds off vegetables it was wonderful I never saw this mush in one time. "Now make something that is healthy and good for the royals, they are not going to eat it but just imagine they will." She said while turning away and walking to the door we came from.
The vegetables that got my eye are the aubergines and the courgettes and the red and yellow peppers. I know just the right thing to make with these. I started preparing the magical vegetables stew (just think off ratatouille) my mother thought me how to prepare it she said it was a family recipe. When I was done I looked down at my work and saw that the chef was sniffing the air. "Mmmmh what is this wonderful smell." He walked over to me and looked at my plate. "Do you mind me taking a bite?" He asked. "No, not at all sir go ahead." I said smiling. He took a fork and took a bite. "This is wonderful kid who thought you this." He said with smile. "My mother did, sir" I replied. "Then you have a very gifted hands if you could make this very difficult stew by your self." He said while patting my shoulder. "Thank you sir." I said smiling brightly. "Oh please call me Paulo." He said with a smile. "I see you didn't need me after all." I heard madam Bright say from behind me. I turned around and saw her smiling at me. "Would you like a bite madam?" I asked her. "I would love a bite if you got Paulo at your feet that means something, that man hardly eats anything that he didn't cook." She said shaking her head. She took a fork and took a bite. "Woow this is wonderful," she said while looking at me "Is there anything you can not do?" She asked amused. "Yes off course I am  just a mere human there are a lot of things I can not do." I said looking down trying to hide my blush. When I looked up I saw Paulo give her a weird look, she just shook her head and turned to me." Well now you can eat and when you are done Laura will show you to your room." She said while pointing to a girl with blond hair. She turned around when she heard her name and give me a small wave, I waved back at her with a small smile. "Now you did good today Rose, I will see you tomorrow." She said while patting my shoulder. "Goodnight ma'am." I said smiling. When I was done eating. I washed my plate and dried it. I went up to Laura and said "Hello my name is Rose." She turned around and said "Hello my name is Laura nice to meet you." She said with smile she looked really nice. "You and I are going to share a room." She said while leading the way. I tried to memorize the way but no such luck this castle is to big. "This is your bed for now." She said pointing at the bed next to the wall. "Thank you Laura." I said smiling. "You are welcome Rose, sleep tight, there will be a lot off work tomorrow." She said while lying down on her bed. I laid down on my bed and took the necklace in my hand. I closed my eyes and tried to sleep. After  toasting and turning I fell asleep. Guess who I saw again...
