Light returned as fast as it had vanished. And it revealed Mr. Jones, or the weird version of him, standing there laughing.
Laughing.
"Sorry, sorry, just the looks on your faces–"
Oliver cut him off.
"WHAT WAS THAT? LIKE WHAT?!?!"
Mr. Jones snorted.
"Long story short, since I'm sure Jeremy doesn't want the long story, these necklaces give you powers. If you know how to use them. And I'm going to teach you." He walked up to Ashley.
"You look smart. Touch your nose for me."
Terrified, Ashley blinked.
"...What?"
"Touch your nose."
Ashley brough her right hand up and touched her nose before dropping it to her side again, confused.
Mr. Jones smiled.
"How'd you do that?"
"I touched my nose."
"No, like, how? Mentally and physically." Mr. Jones explained.
"I... willed my brain to touch it. I didn't really think about it. I just did."
Mr. Jones clapped his hands together grinning.
"Exactly, my dear. To transform, you just... do. It is quite easy, truly..." He said, staring off into the distance.
"My necklace, it controls shadows and darkness. Any necklace can also communicate with the others, basically meaning that with practice, you can telepathically communicate with each other." Mr. Jones said, touching his still glowing black gem. He then pulled yet another necklace out of his pocket. It was white.
"This one, it controls light!" He walked over to Jane.
"Yours controls emotion. I know the least about yours, but I hope to learn more–but what I do know is you can sense, and with practice, manipulate the emotions of others."
He then walked up to Jeremy, who actually looked impressed.
"You, young Jeremy, will have my personal favorite power–reading minds and possibly even mind control. It is a lot more complex than that, though, I will explain that further later." Mr. Jones looked over to Ethan."The blue necklace has control of water, and the temperature of it. Very simple but very powerful."
"And Olivia, your green necklace? Control of plants! You can make them grow at your will."
Mr. Jones strolled over to Luke and Ashley held her breath.
"You, young man, have power over electricity which is very very powerful in the modern world." Luke nodded, stunned.
"Oliver, your orange necklace has the power of telekinesis. Lifting objects with your mind! You also have enhanced strength just in case the load gets too heavy for your brain."
"And our final power." Mr. Jones walked up to Ashley.
"You have the power of creating and manipulating fire."
Ashley raised her eyebrows. She saw that coming to some extent, but was still surprised. She could control fire? That was...powerful.
After Mr. Jones let that sink in for half a second, he clapped his hands together, surprising everyone.
"It's time to transform!"
(A/N) Extra short chapter, sorry about that! I'm thinking after I get all this back story stuff covered I'll start having more humor, action, relationships, character, development, etc. So stick around :D
Edit: Discontinuing this book currently, but for every vote (only one per person), I will add a chapter. If you enjoy this book, please vote, comment, and check out the sequel on my profile, "The Necklace Legend" following a kid named Anna Hayes who stumbles upon the necklace years later!
Edit: A chapter per vote turns out to be exhausting, so i'm not doing that anymore, but I will update once I get to 10 votes.
