I awoke to a rough nudge in my side. Mr. Winn looked down at me with a unimpressed expression.
"What were you doing? Come on, wake up from your little nap and go in. I expect results of some kind when you come back." He groaned and flipped the machine on.
I got to my feet and nodding swiftly, walking in the machine.
—
I arrived in the forest that stood by Lily's house. The snow was half way melted, getting ready for spring. It was a pretty sight; I smiled and started rushing to the house.
My eyes loomed on the house that stood before me. I knocked on the front door, waiting patiently for someone to answer. I heard some talking from inside; the sound of footsteps soon got closer making me shuffle my feet to stand up straight.
Lily had said her sister would be coming over, I didn't know if she was here yet. I wanted to make a good impression and not seem like some weirdo who showed up at her house.
The door slowly opened and there stood USB. I was confused why he was getting the door.
"Oh, hey Oscar! Didn't know you would be here today. Lily is in the kitchen preparing for her sister's visit." USB said bleakly and chewed on a small toothpick.
"Oh shit your right, i hope It's no problem if I stay over." I anxiously said and waved my hands in the air worryingly.
"You should be fine, I mean it's not like you can tell us when you come over. Plus you don't have anywhere else to go." he chuckled and spat the toothpick in the bushes next to the doorway.
I relaxed and nodded. He gestured me to come in, I jumped up and quickly walked inside. The house looked clean and tidy. It normally looked a bit messy but still homey; just a bit cluttered. Now everything looked organized and clean.
"Wow, never seen this place look so nice." I joked while walking.
"Hah! You tell me. Lily has been working her ass off trying to clean this place up." USB groaned in a laughing matter.
We got to the kitchen and Lily turned our direction, with a half amused look.
"This place has to look nice. I haven't had my sister over in years! Hell, I haven't even met her husband yet. I want a good first impression!" Lily stubbornly said and trudged over to us, wiping the dust off her hands. She stopped in-front of us, "also, welcome back, Oscar. While your here why not give us a hand? They should be here soon."
"Hello, Lily! Of course, I wanna make a good impression on them too." I grinned and grabbed a small duster.
—
While we cleaned up the place, Lily told me and USB about her sister. She was a Sugarcane, I expected something else more similar to Lily. They are both plants, but they both were totally different types of plants! Her husband was Reed. They had apparently been married for over 2 years now, and were soon gonna have a child of their own.
I didn't wanna think about how that would work so I didn't ask questions. I mean how could I be so dumb? Of course they could reproduce, it just sounded so strange to me.
About 3 hours after my arrival we heard a knock at the door. Lily rushed to answer the door, while USB and me walked slowly behind her.
The door opened and stood there was Sugarcane, she looked well like a sugarcane. Her body was a faded lime green with a darker colored leaf on the top of her head, pulled backwards. Next to her stood Reed, he was quite taller then Sugarcane. His height was about the same as USB's. He was an average looking cattail reed, a green stem like body with a dark brown catkin which acted like a head to his body.
