1. A new chapter <3

The door slams pulling me out of my dissociated state. As im laying on the the cold hard floor of my living room beaten and bruised, I debate on my choices at hand. To either grab all my things and leave,never looking back and try to provide a life that my daughter deserves ....or I can continue to live in an abusive home, constantly on edge that I will get beaten if I even remotely breathe the wrong way. I finally reach a decision. Enough is enough. I can't pretend like it's gonna get better on it's own, when the only way this will stop is if I take things into my own hands. With that remaining thought,I pull myself up from of the floor with all my might, trying to ignore the ache from my bruised ribs and back and immediately begin to pack. Only bringing what I feel is necessary. Throwing my bags in the boot of my car, I rush upstairs to get my most precious achievement. My gorgeous little girl. Feeling guilty from disturbing her slumber I whisper her name with a light kiss to her forehead.

Serene- hey birdie ..wake up baby

*she blinks her eyes a few time adjusting to the bright lights overpowering the room*

Fay- mummy?

Serene- Fay baby we're gonna go on a little trip, how do you feel about going to New York ?

Fay- m-mew york

*she immediately wakes herself up in excitement her smiling little chubby cheeks almost reaching her eyes*

Fay- that means you won't have n-no more boo boos

*her words tug on my heart, the guilt of ever keeping her in this situation eating me up inside*

Serene- yes birdie we will both be safe. but we need to go now so we need to hurry  ok?

Fay- ok mummy I love youuuu

Serene- I love you too birdie

I grab Fay as fast as I possibly can and head towards the airport. Preparing myself along the way for the journey ahead of us. Going from spain to New York would be one hell of a change I just hope it would be worth it in the end. most of the flight was a blur. I mostly spent my time stroking Fay's head as she drifted of to sleep, zoned out hoping I was making the right choice. All I want is to give my baby girl the life I never was able to give her.

After the flight I managed to find a cheap apartment relatively quick and made ouselves at home, although we had no furniture I brought with us a blow up bed that could do for the night. I made a mental note to go furniture shopping tomorrow after a much needed sleep.

I wake up with a heavy feeling on my stomach and my face being poked at. confused I open my eyes to see Fay bouncing on my stomach shouting on me to wake up

Fay- mum-ma Wake up!

Serene- just one more minute baby

Fay- I'm hu-ngry though

Seren- ok ok I'm up. let's go get some breakfast then

I take her out for some breakfast and get around to shopping for the apartment. Finally by the end of the day it is mostly furnished. I make both of us some pasta for our dinner and put fay to sleep. making my way into the living room plopping down on my couch with a huff of exhaustion still feeling the effects of jet lag. I open my computer searching in hope of looking for a job when I decide to make a phone call I've been debating on whether to make. Dialling the contact in my phone I chew on my lip anxiously

Alex- hello?

Serene- h-hey Alex i-it's Serene

Alex- omg it's really you I thought you just but dialled

I let out a slight giggle

Serene- no no em I'm in town and was wondering if you wanted to catch up soon?

Alex- omg!!! Yes yes are you free tomorrow

Serene- yeah.. is it ok if I bring my daughter with me I don't have anyone to look after her

Alex- omg you have a daughter!!!!  ...obviously we have a lot to catch up on and of course! send me your address and I'll pick you up tomorrow let's say about 3:30

Serene- ok see you then

Alex- can't wait !

Alex and I first met when I was on a mission, in which of course I succeeded. On my way back I was taking a short cut through an alley when I heard some movement close by. When I listened closer, I realised it was 3 people fighting. I see 2 men fighting a woman when she speaks in a thick Italian accent.

"Costello wants what he's owed. Consider yourselves lucky enough to be breathing, whilst being a week over-due"

To my surprise she was holding up quite well, managing to not let her guard down at any moment. However, her being so caught up with the two men in front, she's to distracted to notice another guy aiming his gun behind her. Without a second thought, i shoot all three men in the space of 5 seconds. In reaction the girl turns aiming her gun at me , obviously unclear of my intentions.

Serene- hey hey hey! I'm not the enemy I just did you a favour

I place my gun in my thigh holder.

Alex- sorry I didn't know what your intentions were. Thank you really

She lowers her gun and sends a smile in appreciation

Serene- no problem. Just remember to stay in tune with your intuition, don't get caught up in the moment. If u do that you can fight blind and succeed

Alex- thank you ..your really smart..what's your name sorry

Serene- oh my names serene

Alex- oh nice name .I'm Alex. are you an assassin yourself ?

Serene- yeah I'm ...the Raven

Alex- shut up no fucking way.. you.. your the Raven like THE Raven

Serene- yes way. I trust you will keep that a secret

I laugh at her surprised state

Alex- of course. Well I better get going, thank you again, I really appreciate it

Serene- see ya

After that we bumped into each other a few times here and they're then eventually became good friends.
