A Coffee Date with Ash

Ash and I usually date in a cafe during the day. He doesn't look happy when we meet up at night, actually. But it's not like I ain't trusted by him, he just wants me to stay away from his friends-- they're young gangs, so it makes sense, but I still don't get it honestly. Because I don't think they have bad personalities. They are just, you know, just doing some bad things. Well, their activities don't seem as bad as evil adults do though.

Anyway, I am waiting for him in front of our favorite cafe which is located near 5th avenue. It's chilling outside today. I align the front of the coat, hoping that he will come here in a minute. I check my phone as it vibes. It receives a message from him and says "hey are you already waiting? sorry i am being late, i'll be there in 5" I shrugged. that's okay, I reply. I don't mind if he is late, actually but it's too cold to stand outside. I just wanna go inside the cafe. So I tell him that I will be seated in the cafe. He (of course) agrees with that.

I step into the cafe. One of the cafe staff that I know greets me, "hi! where would you like to have a seat?"  I chose a table by the window to make it easy to find him coming here soon. She smiles and says,

"Are you waiting for your boyfriend? The blond guy, he looks really hot to be honest"

I smile.

"Well, we aren't going out, just seeing each other. But true, he is literally and honestly handsome."

She smiles back at me.

"Well, if you guys are not in a relationship, you're lucky enough to find such a great boy."

And I say, "right".

I think this is the end of a conversation, but she continues. This cafe is not busy around this time, I mean, around 10 o'clock in the morning on Monday, so that's why she doesn't have to worry about other orders. And she looks like she wants to talk about Ash more.

"I think," she says with a high tone voice, "he--i mean your boy-- likes you very much. When he looks at you, his eyes are so gentle and shining, which I can't explain well, though. They tell you that he feels deep connections with you. What a wonderful couple!"

She looks so happy. I can tell that she is actually happier than I am, maybe. I find her kind enough to celebrate someone's love as the love story belongs to her.

"Don't make me blush!"

I feel my face turning red.

"But thank you for praising him and me, i am really grateful about that"

"No problem! Okay, I'm gonna make two cups of sweet coffee today for you guys!"

She winks at me then leaves the table. I touch my face and try to stop grinning. But it won't help, anyway.

10 mins after that, Ash runs into the cafe, saying

"sorry for being late more than I planned ...actually I helped a little boy who was lost in the city"

I shake my head.

"Of course there's no problem if you take care of someone which is truly a nice thing to do, isn't it?"

I tell him. He admits it but isn't convinced.

"But," says he, "I am really looking forward to seeing and talking to you today, so that's a bit of shame that I had been INITIALLY late though..."

I take his hand and smile.

"Oh Ash, that's kind of you to say! And of course, so am I. I am looking forward to seeing you today, so..."
