The Nightmare Matter squirmed and writhed within its shady prison, unable to brave the full force of the sun. Its plan to undo this setback had already been set into motion. A large bulb appeared on the top of the mass – something which looked quite like a large bubble – and opened to reveal hundreds of sharp teeth inside. It looked like some creature with a bulbous snout and no eyes was poking out of the Ocean of the Dead. After sitting open wide for a bit, a curios light began to appear within the mouth. This light was unlike the aura of the Nightmare itself; instead of adding dark red and violet to its surroundings, it instead seemed to steal all of the colors out of them. It was, I suppose you could say, a black light, only without the purplish hue.
After a few tense moments, the light climaxed, and from it shot a huge beam of energy bearing the same signature light and color. The startling colorlessness and darkness which overcame Dreamvale might prompt anyone to look up at the sun to see that the beam had, in fact, launched up through the roof of the palace and straight into it. The sun’s surface was cracked by the force of the attack, and was, by now, also generating the same kind of light that the beam itself was. All of Dreamvale cowered under the colorless light of its now poisoned sun.
But the Nightmare Matter was not content to stop there. As the beam continued streaming from the Mouth and into the sun, the cracks on its surface widened and its light became more and more dim. It all ended in an instant. A sudden, bright flash preceded absolute, suffocating darkness. The sun had been destroyed.
