Forever (sequel to The Hostage)

Santana's POV
I wake up to a scream. In the half light, I can make out Brittany sitting up in bed. She takes a deep breath and pushes her hair back from her face. Even without seeing her properly, I can tell that she had another nightmare. They've been getting more frequent lately, one almost every night.

I sit up beside her, and rub her back. She leans into me, and wipes her tears off.
S-"Breathe. It's okay."
B-"It's not. I can't stop."
S-"It's not your fault. Do you wanna talk about it?"
B-"It was the same one again. With you, and the swimming pool. I was too late."

She has a recurring dream, where I nearly drown. The same happened last year, but obviously she managed to save me. But in this dream, she can't save me. Sometimes the details vary, but it always ends the same; I drown.

S-"But I'm here. And you saved me. It's fine. Marie is gone, she can't hurt me. And I live here with you, the love of my life. We're getting married, and I couldn't be happier. And I'm not going to die."
B-"I guess. We should probably go back to sleep."
S-"Yeah. We have the wedding in a few hours."
B-"Shit. I forgot about that."
S-"It's fine. Everything is ready. Will you try get some more sleep?"
B-"Yeah. Have you set an alarm for us to wake up?"
S-"I'll do it now. I think I left my charger in the kitchen, I'll go grab it. Try get to sleep."
B-"Love you."
S-"Love you too."

I kiss her, and then I get out of bed and walk downstairs. I wouldn't be able to get back to sleep anyway. The whole house is silent. Everyone is asleep, apart from one person. Quinn. She opens her door as I walk past, running a hand through her hair.

Q-"Santana?"
S-"Yeah?"
Q-"I heard a scream. Either you and Brittany had mind blowing sex, which I highly doubt since it's 3 in the morning, or she had another nightmare."
S-"It was a nightmare. The drowning one again."
Q-"Oh. Is she okay?"
S-"We talked for a bit, and she's trying to go back to sleep. I'm looking for a charger."
Q-"It's in the kitchen. I saw it earlier."
S-"Thanks."
Q-"So Brittany's okay?"
S-"Yeah. A little shaken, but fine."
Q-"Okay. So, I'll see you in a few hours?"
S-"Yeah. See you then."

She closes her door, and I continue my quest. I find the cable, then come back upstairs. Brittany has fallen asleep, curled up under the duvet. I plug my phone in and set the alarm for 8:30, then crawl into bed beside her. Her arms automatically slide around my waist and I let her pull me closer, resting her head on my shoulder. I can't sleep, so I stare out the little window across from me. The sun isn't rising yet, it's too early. But Lima is lit up from the inside.

I hold my hand out in front of me, and look at the engagement ring. Brittany had proposed to me at her birthday. And I think it was the happiest I've ever been. The fact that someone loved me that much, makes me so happy. It's the best feeling ever.

The ring itself is cute. Gold, with a little ruby inlaid. On the inside, engraved, is 'forever'. A few weeks after she gave me it, I bought her a matching one, except hers is silver with a sapphire. We rarely take them off, and when I look at our hands joined together, both wearing engagement rings, I feel like I'm so happy I might cry.

So yeah. Kurt and Blaine are getting married. It would be a quiet wedding, but unfortunately neither of them know when to stop. So it's a small group of guests but everything else has been done to the extreme, with bridesmaids and two maids of honour, followed by a party at one of my houses, just outside Lima. It's got some sort of ballroom in it, and Blaine nearly cried when he found out that's where he was getting married. Sam and Quinn have been setting it up for weeks, and it look amazing.

I'm a bridesmaid, along with Brittany and Quinn. Mercedes is Kurt's maid of honour, and Tina is Blaine's. The whole thing makes me want to laugh, since it's so over-the-top. But it's also really sweet. Kurt's dad is coming, so is Blaine's mom. They both know what Kurt and Blaine really do for a living, and they're cool with it.
