"Mistpaw, you can go now, I think I can get Twlightnose to take care of Darknight," Icepool meowed.
Mistpaw looked down at the two kits suckling at Darknight's stomach. She nodded.
As Mistpaw turned to leave, Wasppaw came bursting in. "Could you take a look at Yellowpaw and Lightpaw?" he asked.
Worry squirmed in her belly as she heard her sister's name.
Icepool sighed, her eyes cloudy with tiredness, "Of course."
Wasppaw led them to the apprentices' den, the two apprentices laying curled in their nests.
"Get them some moss soaked water," Icepool didn't even turn to look at Wasppaw as he rushed out.
Yellowpaw lifted her head, "It hurts." She rasped.
Lightpaw didn't move, or make any movements to acknowledge their arrival.
Icepool padded over to Yellowpaw, licking her head. "You don't have a fever."
Mistpaw went over to Lightpaw, her sister's breathing was faint, and her eyes didn't open. She laid still besides the painful writhing.
"Lightpaw has a fever," Mistpaw whispered to her mentor.
"Do you feel okay?" Icepool asked Yellowpaw.
Yellowpaw's voice croaked, "Yeah, I can say I feel better than Lightpaw, at least."
Lightpaw started to groan when Mistpaw looked at her.
Wasppaw walked in, dripping moss hanging from his clenched teeth. His yellow and brown fur was ruffled.
"Did you two eat anything bad?" Icepool meow was muffled under the wet moss.
"Well, we shared a mouse when Lightpaw got back from hunting. It was her catch, so I let her have a bigger piece. It didn't taste bad, but it had a funny scent," Yellowpaw shook her head in confusion.
"Mistpaw, go get some yarrow, poppy seeds, and dock, it seems like they ate a bad mouse. The mouse must've been poisoned." Icepool mewed, not looking away from her two patients.
When Mistpaw walked out of the medicine den, Palesky and Soottail were anxiously waiting.
"It Yellowpaw okay?" Palesky's eyes grew wide.
Mistpaw nodded, "She's better than Lightpaw, they just ate a poisoned mouse, but Yellowpaw will be fine." She hoped this would reassure the panicked mother.
"Thank Starclan, Wasppaw told us when he came back carrying some wet moss," Soottail rubbed his tail along Palesky's flank.
She retrieved the herbs, and went back, Palesky was in the apprentices' den sitting next to Yellowpaw. Soottail was on his way back to the warriors' den, his tail hanging sleepily behind him.
"Wasppaw, you should go back to sleep," Icepool told him, the tom looked exhausted.
He nodded, and Palesky licked her kits ears, "Sleep well."
Mistpaw put the herbs down next to Icepool, her mentor's gaze steady on Lightpaw.
"You should also go tell your mother," Icepool whispered to her.
"I know I should, but she would be very stressed," Mistpaw didn't want to, but before her mentor could go further on, she reluctantly added, "But I'll go."
She trotted out of the medicine den, and she knew her mother would be in the nursery, helping Darknight with her newly born kits. She slowed her steps, not wanting her mother to have to stress about another thing. Her fur was already ruffled about hearing that Darknight was kitting at such a late hour.
"Twilightnose," she whispered into the nursery.
A moment later, Twilightnose's head poked out, her ears pricked. "Is something the matter?"
"Lightpaw ate a poisoned mouse," she started. She could already sense Twlightnose's alarm. "She unconscious right now, but we're giving her herbs to try and help her throw up the poison."
Before she could continue, her mother was already racing across the clearing to the apprentices' den.
When Mistpaw got back, her mother was bent over Lightpaw, lapping at her head.
"Wake up sunshine," she meowed, holding the wet moss at her muzzle.
Lightpaw groaned, and when she opened her eyes, they looked extremely dry.
Icepool stepped in, "Here, Lightpaw, wet your tongue, then you can have some herbs."
"Has Yellowpaw thrown up yet?" she whispered to Icepool.
Icepool shook her head, "Why don't you take her outside to do that."
Mistpaw helped Yellowpaw up, and led her just outside the camp. "Here, swallow this."
Yellowpaw started to chew the herbs, gagging at the taste. After she started gagging, throw up started coming out. Mistpaw looked away, the stench not leaving her nose.
"Let's get back," Mistpaw helped her friend back to camp, letting her lean on her shoulder.
Yellowpaw immediately went to her nest, collapsing in it. Palesky was wrapping her tail around her, and she would probably sleep with her kit for the night. Yellowpaw would finally be able to have a peaceful rest. As for Lightpaw, her sister was trembling in her nest. Twilightnose blinked her eyes, falling asleep.
"You should go back to your nest," Icepool meowed. "We can watch over these two for now."
"Mistpaw and you should sleep as well, I'm sure we can get one of the younger warriors to watch them," Twilightnose pointed out.
Though her mother wasn't wrong, she didn't want to leave her sister. But she had to.
"I'll get Raincloud and Woodclaw then," Icepool meowed. "As for you, Mistpaw, go back to the medicine den and get some sleep."
She did exactly that, and feel right asleep.

She woke up in a field, flowers blooming all over. It was sunhigh, and her sister was bounding across to where she was.
"Mistpaw! You're here, too?" Lightpaw's meow came out clearly, as though she wasn't affected by the poison.
"You have to wake up!" Mistpaw said urgently.
Lightpaw's eyes widened. Mistpaw now recognized where they were. They were on the border of dreams and Starclan.
She could see a stream, which must be the exact border, because a fallen tree was laid perfectly across.
"I'll try," Lightpaw shifted her paws uneasily.
"You have to, if you didn't come back. . ." Mistpaw felt her words catch in her throat. "I don't know what we would do without you."
Lightpaw disappeared into the trees behind her.
"Mistpaw," a voice rang in her ear.
She looked next to her. A starry gray and white she-cat stood next to her.
"Cottonleaf!" Mistpaw felt warmth flow through her body.
"You must go back and get sleep, your Clan will be needing you."
The last words repeated in her head before she fell into a sleepy, black void.
