you walked through the fair, trying to find ariana's stand.
you and her had broken up a couple weeks ago and you couldn't be away from her any longer.
she talked about having a food stand at the fair while it was in town and you figured this was the only time you'd be able to talk to her.
"are you sure you wanna do this? maybe she wants to be left alone" your best friend, sierra, said softly as you looked over at her.
"if she does want that, i'll leave her alone. but i'm not gonna leave without her knowing i tried" you mumbled as you saw her stand.
"she might think you're creepy"
"do you ever shut the fuck up, sierra? seriously" you muttered, walking quicker so you could get to her stand before she got any customers.
before you got there, a family got to the stand, giving you a little time to remember what you were gonna say.
you stood off to the side of her stand as the family ordered.
she looked up, your eyes meeting. she cleared her throat and moved her attention back to the family, "is that all?" she asked with a small smile.
they nodded and handed ariana a twenty dollar bill in exchange for some cotton candy, popcorn & caramel apples.
she looked over to you, "what are you doing here?" she asked sternly, avoiding eye-contact.
"i miss you, and i just... are we actually over?" you asked sadly as she looked up at you.
"i don't want to do this here, y/n"
"then where and when are we gonna do it? you haven't–"
"maybe i don't want to talk to you. has that ever crossed your mind?"
"it has. but if that was tru you would've told me that. i know you, ariana"
she sighed and looked up at you, tears filling her eyes. "can we please not do this here?"
"if i leave are you gonna talk to me?"
"i really don't need this right now"
"i'm sorry, ari"
"i just don't think we're good for each other. maybe one day we'll grow and we can be, but i don't think right now we are. if that makes sense" she mumbled as she looked at the ground.
"when will i see you again?"
"i'll come over tonight. bye, y/n" she mumbled as another family walked up to the stand.
