Part One Under the Crabapple Tree~ Beginning

The door closes behind me as I rush out of the dorm room. The hall, quite as always this early in the morning echoes with each footstep I take. I readjust my tote hanging off my shoulder as I open the door leading me outside the building. A gust of wind greeted me, introducing me to the mornings cold and hazy weather. The sun trying to reach my skin is muffled by the clouds overhead. Only a soft grey light managed to succeed in escaping out from behind them. Just as always I'm guided to the same wooden bench under the crabapple tree. A piece of faded golden brown parchment, folded unevenly, is intertwined in the wooden planks in the same place I always find the notes. Reaching for the paper I sit down on the bench and grab it, holding it in my hands momentarily before unfolding the golden brown parchment. The handwriting was simple as always, with no fancy swirls but had a common vintage feeling behind it. It looks as if it was copied off of an old book manuscript with its perfect spacing and grammar.

Hello. To answer your previous question, yes sometimes I have the same feelings. Feeling of insecurity, worry for what the future holds, scared that I am not following the plan I am supposed to. Whenever I feel this way though I always make sure to take a breath and focus on the present, make sure to reassure myself that I'm doing great and will continue to by staying on this path, that there are still things I can look forward to each day. Something as simple as writing these letters to you can bring back that small ounce of positivity that I need in my life. The positive feelings that you can share with another without the fear of being judged. I thank you once again for providing me that comfort and warmth that seems to shield me from the winds and darkness on those stormy days. I hope my letters can do the same for you, bring in those small bits of lite the sun can't provide through those the grey clouds above. I have a question for you, what do you do on those darker days? What is it that you can do to convince yourself that there is more light than the dark? Until your response

Folding the letter back up and sticking it in the tote, I grab out a sheet of cream colored parchment with its matching envelope and a brown pen I always used to write my letter with. I sit in that same spot on the bench and write on the parchment, filling up the entire front side of it. Signing it with a creative description and fold it, sticking it into the envelope. I intertwined the envelope holding my letter in the same place as I found the imperfectly folded letter that is now in my bag. I get up from the bench and walk towards the schools campus to attend my first period class.
