The Great Hall was decorated beautifully, with snow falling from the bewitched ceiling and ice sculptures on each table, it looked like a winter wonderland as the Yule Ball continued in full swing. Students were enjoying the music by dancing or even just standing in groups chatting and laughing as they sipped their drinks. Everyone seemed happy and carefree. Except for one person.

Hermione Granger pushed her palms into her eyes as hot tears fell down her cheeks, smudging her makeup she'd worked so hard on as she tried to stifle her sobs. She tried her hardest not to be affected by Ron's words, but she was completely devastated. How could he have just been a git to her? Maybe if he'd taken a second to ask her to the ball the moment it was announced she may not have gone with Victor Krum and Ron wouldn't have been so jealous and hurtful.

He's using you! Ron's words rang though her mind as she tried to push the fight out of her mind, such a git, she thought to herself as she sniffed.

"Oi, Hermione!"

Hermione looked up to see Fred and George Weasley regarding her curiously, Hermione coughed and quickly wiped her face, trying to rid herself of any evidence of crying.

"What'd our idiot brother do this time?" The twins said in unison.

"Nothing," Hermione shook her head as she responded softly, she gave a small smile, "I'm fine." But the twin's expressions proved they did not believe her.

Fred turned to George who nodded and walked off, patting Hermione's shoulder gently as he passed her on the stairs, Fred put his hands in his pockets and took a seat on the steps beside her, picking up her discarded heels she'd tossed in a fit of rage.

"Whatever ickle Ronniekins did, I'm sorry, he doesn't realize that sometimes you're--"

"Honestly, he didn't do anything," Hermione hiccuped.

Fred gave a small snort of disbelief, absentmindedly turning her shoes in his hands as they sat there. "Come on, Hermione."

Hermione rubbed at her cheeks, slowly shaking her head as she remembered the fight she had with Ronald awhile ago. "He was being a git, telling me I had no right fraternizing with the enemy." She scoffed slightly, shaking her head as two sobbing girls made their way up the stairs passed them.

"He just doesn't realize that he's being a jealous git. He may never realize that. But that doesn't mean you have to cry and ruin your night," Fred shrugged, he leaned his elbows back behind him as he relaxed on the stairs. "I bet Krum is waiting for you to get back in there," Fred nodded to the Great Hall.

Hermione shook her head, keeping her eyes focused on her hands clasped in her lap, "no, he went back to his ship an hour ago."

Fred raised an eyebrow, "oh."

"What?" Hermione snapped, rolling her eyes as she looked at Fred out of the corner of them.

Fred chewed on his cheek and sighed, shaking his head a little as well. "It's nothing," he shifted so his elbows rested on his knees and his hands were folded together, the heels hanging by their straps in his hands.

"Its not like it would matter, I'm not in the mood to dance anymore," Hermione muttered.

"Oh really?" Fred chuckled, "you keep looking at the doors and perking up at the sound of the music, you're even swaying right now. You don't have to lie to me." Hermione felt herself instantly freeze, her cheeks heating up slightly.
