As we drove I watched my old life disappear my friends, my family, my home. I sure was going to miss Vegas but it was well worth it. I stared out the window the tears started to steam down my cheeks. I felt a hand wipe away my tears.
"It's ok honey." My boyfriend, Chris, said caressing my cheek his eyes glued to the road. "We'll find a nice place in San Diego"
Right. We're moving. Chris said I have amnesia so he filled in all the blanks like who he was, who I was, where we we're going, that kind of thing. I still forget things but hopefully the meds I have will help with that.
"Right San Diego," I murmured while his hand moved to mine our fingers interlocking. "Why are we moving again?"
"I already told you, we're moving because I'm going to college here."
"Oh yeah. I completely forgot about that."
"It's just the amnesia. Good thing you have me to take care of you. You might've forgotten how to drive or something like that. How would you live?"
"Yeah that would make life pretty difficult huh?"
A smile crept across his face "I love you. You remember that don't you?"
"Of course I do."
"Good"
He looked at me his grey blue eyes finding mine. He kissed my hand and looked back at the road. "I always thought driving long distance was scary but now look at me I'm driving my girlfriend through 2 states one handed." I giggled a little
"Impressive"
He smirked. "Ya know when we get there we'll have a hotel room all to ourselves."
"Ok and?"
He took both his hands off the wheel and made a sexual gesture.
"You're disgusting" I said laughing
"You know you love me"
"Do I? With the amnesia and all" I teased
"Ouch" he said putting his hand over his heart and wincing. I gave him a look raising an eyebrow. He started laughing
"Fine. I love you." I said in a sarcastic tone
"That's what I thought" he chuckled. "Twenty questions?"
Twenty questions. A game Chris made up to help my remember things. It helps a little.
"What's your name?"
"April Miller."
"What's my name?"
"Christopher or Chris Stanton."
"What's our dogs name?" He said pointing at the small dog crate by my feet. Containing a small but feisty miniature schnauzer.
"Coco"
"Is Coco a boy or girl?"
"Girl. I spoil the crap out of her."
He laughed a little "Where are we going?"
"San Diego"
"Why are we going to San Diego?"
"Umm." I couldn't remember. My brain gets foggier the more I try to remember "Work?" I guessed.
"Nope." Chris said almost mockingly. "College"
"Oh. Right."
"It's ok the more you take the meds the better your brain will get."
I just nodded silently my free hand tracing the hem of my jeans. They didn't fit right. Chris said it's because I lost weight in the hospital because I wouldn't eat. That's the reason none of my clothes fit actually. He promised to take me shopping as soon as we got to San Diego.
