Prolog.

5 YEARS OLD

"Hi, my name is Anna," says a little girl with long blonde hair.
"My name is Lizzie," I reply looking at the girl.
"Want to be best friends?" She asks with hope in her voice.
"Yes, best friends forever!"
"You promise?" She asked holding up her pinky.
"I promise," I say while latching my pinky around hers.

10 YEARS OLD

I'm so excited I get to go over to Anna's tomorrow for a sleep over. It's going to be so fun. She said her brothers going to be home. Every time I go over there he is at baseball practice or at a friends house. I hope he's nice. I have a big brother. He's really nice to me. He helps me a lot.

I get shaken out of my thoughts when I hear yelling down stairs. It's mom and dad. They yell a lot now. I remember when they didn't. It was a long time ago. We used to go out on weekends and have fun. Now we don't do anything
. The screams get louder so I hide in my closet. I usually go to Levi's room but he goes to the big school so he's not home yet. Once I get in the closet I stack a bunch of throw pillows up and lay down. Not long after I fall asleep.

I feel someone pick me up. I hazily open my eyes and look up at the person. It's just Levi so I close my eyes back. He sits me on the bed and I hear him walk towards the door before he can leave I stop him.

"Can you stay with me tonight?" I asks looking down at my hands.

"Of course," he says giving me an apologetic look and laying down beside me. I turn around and snuggle into him.

"I love you bubba." I look up at him and he smiles down at me.

"I love you to Lizzie bug." I scoot closer to him and close my eyes. Right before I fell asleep I felt him kiss my forehead

" I'm sorry I wasn't here this time. I promise I will be next time," he whispered in my ear.

I wake up to the smell of bacon. I love bacon. On Saturday mornings Levi always makes us breakfast. I hop out of my bed and run to the kitchen. He hears me and grabs my orange juice and plate. I sit down at the table and he sits them In front of me. A soon as he moves I start eating. It tastes so good. He walks back into the kitchen to get his food and comes and sits by me.

"Are you excited to go to Anna's?"

"Weah," I reply with a piece of sausage in my mouth.

"Don't talk with your mouth open. That's gross." He says. He always acts like my dad. I don't know why. He shouldn't. He's only 13. He's a kid too.

"Sorry," I whisper looking down.

"It's fine Lizzie just don't do it again." He smiles at me. I smile back and finish the rest of my breakfast.

"You have to stay still," Anna groans. She's trying to do my hair, but we've been sitting here for so long. My back hurts.

"Are you almost done." I ask while she tuggs on my hair.

"If you will stop moving.I could have been done like ten minutes ago." Not wanting to sit there any longer than I have to I sit completley still for the next five minutes. When she's done she hands me a mirror and I look in it. My hair is in one big long fishtail braid. It looks so pretty. Anna can do hair so good. Her mom teaches her.I wish mom could teach me stuff like this.

I hear a door shut down the hall. I think its her brother. He had to go to the library after school today.

"Anna honey your brothers home. Why dont you introduce him to Lizzie?" Anna's mom 'Amanda' yells from down stairs

Anna graons. "C'mon." she mumble walking out of the room. We walk down the hall and stop infront of a brown door with a bunch of pictures on them.It was just a bunch of little scetches of his name.

"Johnathen, come out here please,"Anna says in a sing-song voice.

"Shut up Anna.I told you not to call-" He stops mid sentence when he opens the door and sees me standing here.

"Who are you?" he asks with a little rudeness in his voice.

"Umm... im Lizzie.I'm Anna's best friend. I'm just having a sleep over with her." I was looking down at my fingers the whole time. I could feel my cheeks heat up.

"Why haven't I seen you before?"

"Because everytime I come over your gone." I say with a little more confidence in my voice.

"Okay, well nice to meet you I guess." He shuts the door in our face and we walk back towards her room.

He's not that bad. I mean he's no Levi, but he is okay. He was kind of rude. It could of just been a bad day or something. I mean this is the first time we met. Plus he might be shy. I bet he's actually really nice.

Boy was I wrong...

14 YEARS OLD

"Just shut up and go away.Your so fucking annoying. Why is my sister even friends with you," John yells at me.

I blink away the tears that form in my eyes. I quickly turn around before he could notice and go back to the kitchen. Amanda is in there cooking still.

" Hey momma Manda, he said he wasnt hungry," I tell her while sitting on the counter.She looks at me with her eyebrows raised.

"I heard honey." She puts down her spatula and wrapps her arms around me.

"I'm sorry he's like that honey. I don't know whats the matter. I will talk to him." She kisses the top of my head and goes back to cooking.

I wipe away some of the tears that fell. I hope off the counter and walk towards anna's room. I bump into somethign hard. I look up and its him.He looks at me and I see a small look of concern flashed through his eyes, but quickly went away.

"Why are you crying?"

I look at him with shock. Is he really wanting to know. I mean he's never wanted to know anything about my feelings so why now. I am about reply when he cuts me off.

"You thought I was serious." I just look down at my shoes. Tears still flowing down my face.

" OMG you did didn't you. I can't believe you actually thought I cared."

The tears started coming faster and they wouldn't stop. I let out a little sob.

"Your such a cry baby. You know your even uglier when you cry, so please move your fat ass out of the way so I can get away from you"

As soon and he walks away I let out a full sob and fall to the floor.

16 YEARS OLD.

He's finally leaving. After so many years if avoiding him he's finally going to be out if my life. This is going to be the best year yet. I can't believe I don't have to put up with him anymore.
