Somi's heart shattered as she lay beside you in bed, her hand brushing across your back to try and help soothe you as your heart ached worse than it ever has before.

Today has been the worst day of your life. Your dog passed away earlier this morning. He was your first dog and your very best friend. There wasn't a day that he hadn't been there to make you feel loved. He'd been there for you through everything and losing him is the worst thing that's ever happened to you.

Somi was there to catch you when you fell apart when it happened this morning. She's been by your side since, refusing to leave you for too long, because she knows you need her now more than ever before.

"I'm still here with you, baby. If you want to talk about it, I'm here to listen." She said as she kissed your head.

You didn't respond verbally, only letting out a sob as your broken heart continued to ache.

"He was a good dog." She spoke softly and waited to see if you'd say anything in return.

You chuckled tearfully, your teeth sinking into your lip as you thought back to the moments you spent with your sweet dog. He'd been so wonderful and all you ever wanted was to make every day he spent with you as good as it could possibly be.

"He was." You sniffled. "He was my very first dog. He was so special and sweet."

She nodded wordlessly before she kissed your shoulder comfortingly.

"I wish he was still here. I miss him so much."

"I know, baby." She whispered softly. "I can't imagine how much you're hurting right now. I know how important he was to you and how much you loved him. He loved you, too."

"I know he did. He always made me feel so loved."

She continued to rub your back comfortingly.

"You gave him such a great life; one so full of love and happiness. He cherished every day he spent with you. I know that for certain."

Your lip trembled as the tears streamed down your cheeks with no end in sight.

"It's okay." She whispered as you sobbed hard again, her arms tightening around you as you turned over and buried your face in her shirt, your tears soaking the fabric.

"I knew losing him would be hard. But I didn't know it would be this hard." You sniffled. "He was the most amazing dog I could've ever asked for. I wish I could hold him again. He made me so happy."

"Baby, you made him so happy." She spoke softly. "I know it's not easy but time will heal the ache in your heart, even if it doesn't feel like it right now. But don't worry, he's still right here in your heart, safe and sound there."

You continued to cry, the loss still too much to bear.

"It'll be okay, I promise." She whispered. "For now, you just let it all out. I won't let you go."

She swallowed the lump in her throat and wiped away the tears from her eyes before she kissed your head and continued to comfort you even as her own heart ached a little.

Because she, too, missed that sweet dog so much already.
