Chapter 2- An Interesting Proposal

Previously:

You began walking, "Wait, did I ever tell her my name?" You just shrugged it off and continued home so you could prepare for tomorrow. Probably the day after too.

Currently:

Waking up the next day actually on time. You smack your alarm clock to make it shut up and start to get ready for the day. Grabbing your uniform and beginning to do your hygienic routine. 

You eventually make it downstairs to see your mother making breakfast for you again. "Good morning, Mom."

She smiles and looks at you, "Good morning sweetie."

She then set your breakfast on the table before grabbing a plate for herself. You two ate together in a comfortable silence. 

After you finished your meal, you washed your plate, grabbed your bag, and went outside to go to school. Today was peaceful... too peaceful. Which when right on cue the blonde who asked you to lunch yesterday came up to you. "Hi Y/N!!!!" 

Wait, I didn't tell her my name. "How do you know my name? And where I live for that matter?"

She seemed to get a little nervous. "Truth be told, I've been interested in you for a while."

You decided to say a little joke to ease he nervousness. "Well that's not creepy at all."

She seemed to laugh at your half joke. "You're so funny." You gave that nervous chuckle.

"Well I gotta go to school. I'll see you around."

You turned to head there but she clamped onto your arm. "Well let's go."

You walked together to school. As you passed a few of your classmates they gawked at you two. You couldn't blame them. You weren't popular at all like the so-called prince of Kuoh. But at the same time, you weren't infamous like the perverted trio. You were a happy medium.

When you got to the front gate. You were met by the perverted trio who were crowded around a girl. She had black hair, and her body was mature. You could hear Issei bragging about how she was his girlfriend.

She looked over to you and Mittelt, you could her eyes widen before turning into a smile. "Mittelt!" she waved you two over. The trio looked at you, and the two loners became even more jealous.

As you walked over a punch was sent at your face. When it collided, it stung a little bit. Although there wasn't a lot of damage. They were pretty weak. The bald one decided to voice his reasoning, "Dammit man, first Issei and now you! I thought we was brothas." 

You got confused. "Since when have we been brothers, let alone friends?"

"Damn, that's cold." 

Ignoring them, you can see Mittelt and that other girl talking. Then Mittelt came up to you and dragged you over. "Y/N I'd like you to meet my friend Yuuma Amano."

"Nice to meet you Yuuma, Sorry Mittelt, but I gotta go, class starts soon."

She smiles at you and kisses your cheek. You blush a little, not expecting it. I mean you did just meet yesterday and you two were only going to lunch tomorrow. "Alright, I'll see you tomorrow."

She and Yuuma walk away, presumably to go to their school. You walked through the gates to be met my Souna again. She must have really taken an interest in you for some reason. "Y/N could you come with me to the student council room?"

"Uhhhh, I have class."

She chuckled a little, "Don't worry you're exempt from it right now." 

She then turned to go to the council office, and you followed her. Not like you had much choice at this point. It didn't take long for you to get there. She then pointed to a seat on one side of a chess board. "Would you like to play a game?"

You sat down and smiled, "Sure Jigsaw."

She gave a look of confusion as she sat down. Oh well. You decided to try the two-turn win. But you doubted you'd get it. "So, who was that you were walking to school with?"

She moved her pawn that was in front of the bishop. "Her name is Mittelt, although I barely know her. She tripped yesterday and in exchange for helping her she offered to get me lunch tomorrow." You moved your pawn that was in front of the king.

Her eyes widened. Whether it was from what you said or something else you weren't sure. "I'd advise you to not go tomorrow."

She moved the pawn in front of her knight forward. Perfect. Although you didn't move in favor of the conversation. "Why's that?"

She looked up at you. "First, let me ask you a question. Do you believe in the supernatural?"

"How is that different than what you asked me yesterday about magic?"

"Well, the supernatural is more I guess you could say rooted in religion."

"I'd never considered myself religious. So, I'd say probably not."

She seemed to contemplate her next words. "What if I told you, it was all real?"

You took in what she said for a second then started laughing. "That's a pretty good joke Souna. Even if it was real, why tell me about it?"

She looked down at the board. "I'm being 100% serious Y/N. I'm a devil of high nobility. I'm telling you specifically because of something really interesting in you. Everyone, and I mean everyone possesses some ability to use magic. Whether they be human, devil or something else. But you, you have nothing, and I want to know why. So, I'm offering you something. As devils we can rebirth humans as devils." She held up her knight piece for a second. "I know you'll need time to think about this, or to even believe me for that matter. But please consider it."

You took a deep breath to gather your thoughts. Then grabbed your queen piece. "Just give me some time, and I'll still go tomorrow since you never said why I shouldn't. Plus, I want food. So, I guess I'll see you next week." You placed your queen to check the king, "Checkmate." Then you left to go to your next class.
