Chapter 4

Following their arrival in Rome, the five individuals proceeded to the downtown area. Upon reaching their destination, Alessandra took hold of Brian's hand as they approached the entrance of the building. Once inside, Monica raised the hatch.

Brian O'Connor, Roman Pearce, and Alessandra Davison were introduced to Monica Fluntes. Monica inquired of Bilkins whether they had gathered background information on Verone. Bilkins confirmed that they had been briefed, prompting Monica to disembark from the truck. She then stated, "Verone is seeking drivers, and I have hired the three of you to commence work. When do we start?" Roman asked. "Now," Monica replied.

Curious about their vehicles, Brian asked, "What are we driving?" Monica unveiled the covers, revealing an Eclipse and a Spyder. Alessandra expressed her astonishment, while Roman humorously warned her against taking the convertible, suggesting it would compromise her performance. Alessandra laughed at this remark, and Brian commented, "That's cool, but that's too much chrome for me anyway." Roman then inquired about the source of the rims, to which Alessandra responded with uncertainty as she entered the Eclipse. Brian joined her, and they set off, with Roman trailing behind.

"Turn right here," Monica instructed, and both Brian and Roman complied. Monica then remarked to Brian, "So, you used to be a cop." Brian responded affirmatively and asked her how long she had been undercover. "I lost count," Monica replied. Concerned, Brian asked, "Are you alright?" Monica playfully suggested, "You might want to keep your eyes on the road, playboy." With a smirk, Brian responded, "Why, do you think we're going to crash?" Monica replied, "I haven't decided yet."

As Brian pulled back on the joystick and accelerated, Roman questioned, "What are you doing, Brian?" They came to a halt at a red light. Alessandra was taken aback when Monica laughed, remarking, "Did he really use the stare drive? Did he get that from me?" This prompted both Monica and Alessandra to direct their attention towards Brian. "Once you enter, you're on your own," Monica stated, urging Alessandra to exit as well. Alessandra complied and positioned herself beside Brian, while Roman approached them. "Where did you acquire those cars, from the bottom of a cereal box?" he inquired. "Very amusing, Fonzie," Roman retorted, eliciting laughter from Alessandra. "Burto, Enrique, I require copies of the drivers' licenses and any additional information you can obtain," Monica requested as she departed to locate Carter.

Burto and Enrique proceeded to contact the drivers while Brian, Roman, and Alessandra made their way toward the entrance. Burto and Enrique conducted background checks on Brian, Roman, and Alessandra. "Carter, the drivers have arrived," Monica informed him. Burto and Enrique instructed the drivers to remain present. "Thank you for coming on such short notice; my red Ferrari was confiscated yesterday and is currently in an impound lot," Carter explained. Following his briefing, everyone, including Alessandra, hurried towards the parking lot.

After the audition race, Brian, Roman, and Alessandra returned to Carter's location. Brian handed Carter a package, while Alessandra removed her light blue top and donned her sunglasses. Monica then guided the three of them towards the pool. Subsequently, they departed to visit TeJ's garage.
