When I arrived, I saw hundreds of people lined up in line to buy emergency products. I grabbed two shopping carts, and I put three baskets in them, I needed to buy stuff for the homeless of New York. I headed over to the canned goods and took my arm and pushed about 35 cans into my cart. I rushed towards the home necessities, and grabbed about 3 dozen packs of sheets and blankets. In addition, I scooped about 50 pairs of hats and mittens. I also grabbed toothbrushes, and toothpaste. I went over to the checkout, and waited.
About forty five minutes later, I was in the front of the line. I ripped out the donation out of my pocket as the cashier beeped the items. The price popped up as exactly $200, so I gave her the two hundred dollar bills from the envelope, and took off with the supplies hand in hand.
People flooded out of the store and went their separate ways, I headed towards where usually the homeless of New York go, (which was Central Park).
When I arrived, I saw at least a hundred people huddled up there. They were trying to conserve heat, but I shouted out, "Do you guys have a place to stay for the blizzard?"
They all shook their heads.
"Group up with 4 other people, and come over here, and I will give you a bag of supplies- and a ticket for a hotel room for the night!"
I knew that I had about 50 tickets for a hotel room, but they all needed to have a group for their hotel room.
Groups of five came up to me at a time, and I handed them a bag including: 4 toothbrushes, a tube of toothpaste, a warm blanket, some cans of food, and the hotel ticket.
As I was doing so, people said their sincere thank you's, and headed off to their specific hotels.
I was glad I got there when I did, because any later- we all would have froze. Luckily the last group headed off when they storm started getting violent. I started to head off to my home, as I wished the groups the best luck.
