*set in an older time*

Taylor laid on the couch watching the rain drip down windows awaiting her lovers presence. It was almost sun down so that meant Karlie would be here any minute now. The creak of the door caused the blonde to rush to her feet and into the others arms.

"Hi." Taylor whispered Karlie smiled softly taking the smaller girl in full embrace. "Hi." The taller girl responded.

"It's been raining all evening are you alright?" Taylor asked the back of her palm grazing her girlfriends forehead and cheeks Karlie smiled again taking her girlfriends soft hands in her rough ones. "I'm fine love." She cooed kissing Taylor who blushed lightly and shut the door holding Karlie's hand and guiding her to the kitchen.

"I made your favorite." Taylor gushed Karlie stared at the blue eyed girl. Never had she met someone as enticing as Taylor. Taylor was the epitome of delicate, she was the sweetest girl in town and she believed in the world. She was soft and gentle with everything and everyone she came across no matter their level of anger she saw the good in even the worst people. Karlie didn't know what she had done to end up with someone like her, she'd also never know how she'd repay the world for gracing her with Taylor.

"What?" Taylor blushed Karlie had forgotten she'd been staring blankly at Taylor, lost in her thoughts. "Nothing nothing.." Karlie smiled she look off her jacket and Taylor look it in her hands. "I'll sew it again." She sighed

"It's fine Taylor, it'll rip again." Karlie mumbled a mouth filled of food. "Well I don't care I'll keep sewing it, it's better then you getting hurt." Taylor said sitting down next to her girlfriend Karlie took Taylor's hand and held it the entire time.

Karlie worked at a job for no women, she was put in danger going out there every morning and Taylor held her breath the entire day but they needed the money. The war was getting bad again and food was becoming scarce. It wasn't just the two of them they needed to care for Ellie, Taylor's little sister who was practically their daughter was the most important to the both of them. Most teenagers or young adults like Taylor and Karlie lived without parents, they'd lose their fathers in wars and mothers in sadness.

Karlie though, never had a family not from before the war. She's lived alone until and old man picked her up when she was 7 he cared for her like a daughter, although he'd never admit, he loved Karlie. It's why no one ever questioned her working out in the fields like the guys did. Once he passed Karlie was really on her own.

Until the one night she was walking home late with no rush and ran into a girl and a pile of books.

Taylor lost her parents like most teens did. It was hard at first but she kept going for her sister. Her sister was only 2 when they'd passed and was now 4 approaching 5. Karlie loved Ellie with everything in her and Taylor loved her even more for that.

"How's El?" Karlie asked standing behind Taylor as she washed dishes. "She's missing her friends but it's not safe to go out yet. I told her Lily's girls might visit." Taylor smiled Karlie nodded kissing her girlfriends cheek before walking to the shower.

"It's beautiful." Taylor whispered Karlie lifted her head a little. "What is?" She asked. "We are, our bodies are like puzzle pieces aren't they?" Taylor smiled Karlie grazed her hand down Taylor side. "They do." She smiled

"Oh no I'm sorry." Taylor blushed her fingers tracing a dark red mark forming along Karlie's collarbone. "That's fine darling." She smiled kissing Taylor again this time their lips stayed pressed against one another. Taylor sighed into the kiss and pulled the taller girl closer to her. Taylor felt so small in the other girls protective arms. Karlie wouldn't let a soul touch the girl unless all intentions were good.

"We should get dressed." Karlie whispered "Ellie will be at the edge of the bed anytime now." Karlie chuckled pressing one last longing kiss to Taylor's chest. Taylor nodded and they both got dressed into sleeping clothes Taylor went to get Ellie and the three of them cleaned up together before bed.

"Can I sleep with Livy too?" Ellie's eyes lit up Taylor smiled a little bit and nodded the little girl quickly ran to get the small kitten and the four of them laid in bed. This was a sleeping pattern an old routine. Ellie would soon be sleeping on her own but for now she held onto each of the girls hands and slept, their hands jolting a string of electricity to each other.
