The Monster In Me

The Encounter

As the last rays of sun streamed through the window and onto the bedroom floor, you sat on your bed looking at yourself in the mirror. You stared at every crack and shatter in the crystal-like glass. It was like millions of little shards were stuck to the cream coloured wall. The room was gloomy, cold and hardly had any decor. You could just hear the ticking of the clock in the foyer. It was quiet, too quiet. You stand up and walk across the room. As you did the floorboards creaked beneath you. You walked over to the window and gazed outside. A tear streamed down her face. A small squeak from the floorboards outside your bedroom door made you jump.

'It couldn't be my parents' you think they were out and weren't coming back for another week. They went on a work trip just before these weird things have been happening to you and your village.

Then a click of your door handle indicated that someone or something was about to open your door.

That's when you knew you had to hide.

You dive under the bed and held your breath. The door creaked open but nothing stood in the doorway. The door hit the wall and then there was that eerie silence again. The only sound was the cries from the birds of the night. You got out from under your bed and walk over to the door. Still nothing. "Maybe it was just the wind or the rats got into the house again" you whisper to yourself. You shut the door, grab some paper as well as a handful of pencils and sit down at your desk.

Ever since this creature has started tormenting the people of your village you've had a bad feeling. No one has ever seen this creature but some people have been saying that they have seen flatted grass heading towards them, or a cluster of stars have disappeared and then reappeared in a matter of seconds. Some people have also said that their dogs are whimpering and ran away dragging their owners behind them almost as if something has scared them. Objects are being knocked over in the middle of the night. Holes being found in the side of barns and houses. Farmers claiming to wake up to multiple dead animals being dragged across their paddock but nothing can be seen dragging them. But you know one thing for sure. You know that wherever this creature has come from, it isn't from this world.

You go down to the kitchen to cook dinner. You light some candles on the bench and start to prepare the ingredients when all of a sudden the candlelight dims like something was standing between you and the candle. Then all of a sudden it's back to full brightness

Without turning around you think 'This is just like what people have described with the stars.' you then turn around. Nothings there. 

"There's no way that this could be the wind" You say to yourself as you look around the room for any open windows but they're all firmly shut. You go back to preparing the food when the light completely disappears from the room. At this point you're terrified. You slowly turn around and walk towards where the candle was once lit and you suddenly bump into something... something furry, you slowly reach down what felt like an oversized wolf leg covered with thick fur.

You scream and back away into the corner. The smarter thing to do probably would've been to run but you were in too much shock to even think about that. Then large wolf body started to appear out of nowhere. The first thing you saw was the head, then the front half of its body, the back half of its body and finally the tail. This wolf was huge, and by huge I mean massive. the biggest wolf you've ever seen. It must've been at least the same size as an adult bison. 

Then it sat down and said "Uhhh... Hi. Sorry for scaring you"

You suddenly felt really dizzy and sick, that's when everything went pitch black.
