Chapter 3
*Dominic
I barged into the clearing. I was beyond enraged. I don't know how I'm going to get back at her but you better believe I will if its the last thing I fucking do tonight.
Evelynn and I locked eyes The expression on her face was one of surprise, confusion, and what looked like relief? I knew better than to think I would ever cause her relief. After getting over the shock of my sudden appearance, she gathered her emotions and slid into her poker face. Her eyes slowly roamed the rest of my wet, now slightly muddy body. Thats when i noticed the smirk appearing on her dimpled cheek.
"Hmmm that's funny? I don't remember the weather man saying it would rain today. Whatever could have gotten you so wet? hehe sure didn't see any clouds out here." she turned to numero, "did you see any clouds out here numero? What's that? No? Yeah. I didn't think so either. It must just be you." she said, turning back to face me again.
If I could blow steam out my ears . . . just watching her had me going from enraged to engulfed- I was up to my neck in anger. I tried cooling myself down before I lost my handle. Another second and I would have succedeeded but she opened her mouth to speak.
"If I didn't know any better I would say that someone kicked your puppy, judging by the look on your face, Nicky" and there goes my cool. I was so irate that I couldn't speak when I opened my mouth; "hmmmmm" nothing but a low growl came out.
I LOATHED that "pet" name from the bottom of my heart. But she only used it to get under my skin. It more than worked, though I wasn't going to let her know it. I cooled my face til' it felt calm but still hard. If it weren't for my ragged breathing she probably wouldn't have even guessed I had been phased by her actions.
I was finally able to speak. "You've got a lot of damn nerve Evelynn" a whole lot.
She pouted her lips, mock innocence crossed her features. She even went as far as to throw in a southern accent.
"Why, little ol' me? What could I have possibly done to big strong man like you" She tried her hardest not to laugh during her 'act' but a few snickers escaped her lips.
"As evil as you are, I wouldn't be surprised if you went around town kicking innocent puppies for the good of your entertainment. Its not like you have anything better to do anyway" I said seriously.
"Like you do? Last time I checked, you only go out when your boss lets you out of your gorilla cage." She emphasized her point by making monkey noises at me.
'
"I'm sorry? I almost forgot how infantile you are. How about instead of being a bitch, you grow your tight ass up. No sane 24 year old makes animal noises at another adult. Unless of course, that was how your species does its mating call?" She wanted to make fun out of the situation. Fine! Two can play at that game.
"You should recognize that sound. I'm pretty sure its the same one your mother used when she was calling to your APE of a father! You know what they say. . . the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. I'm guessing you got your personality from your mother and your looks from your father." Okay that was taking it a bit too far.
i was almost certain she knew my parents were both dead because of my mothers loose habbits and my 'APE' of a fathers anger issues and abusive tendencies. It upset me that she would even compare me to them, jokingly or not. Enough fun and games. This argument turned from slightly amusing to serious in a matter of seconds. It seemed that she was all about taking risks today.
"My parents have nothing to do with this so leave them out of it! You don't know a damn thing about them. And atleast it worked for them. Meanwhile your sitting alone outside in the dark in the cold half drunk by yourself." I laughed without humorous while shaking my head at her. "Tell me Evelynn, where are YOUR friends. Whose here to keep you warm. Who comforts you at night. Oops! That's right... NO ONE! Not that its hard to see why." That wiped the smile off her pretty little face. She must have sensed that her game was up.
