𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐋𝐀 𝐇𝐀𝐒 𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐈𝐂𝐍𝐈𝐂 𝐓𝐀𝐁𝐋𝐄𝐒 for a while now. The girl didn't know what to do with her free period. She had already studied, and she already sorted out her notes for Scott. She didn't realize until her free period came that she didn't actually have friends apart from Starr who has been hanging with Paisley and Stiles and Scott who has been doing their own thing. The redhead picks up a carrot stick before eating it. She's really bored now.
"Layla!"
The redhead looks up to see Starr running towards her. The curly haired girl plops down in front of her, looking tired. "I haven't seen you all day. Have you been avoiding me?" Starr questions. "I believe it's the other way around."
"What do you mean?" The girl asked confused. Layla shakes her head, "Where's Paisley?"
"Cheerleading practice. She has been dragging me around everywhere she goes. She's suddenly very clingy," Starr tells her. Layla pushes the counter towards the girl, and she takes out a carrot stick. "Do you know where my cousin and Scott is?"
"Last time I saw them, they were running out of the cafeteria," Layla tells her. "Starr, can I ask you something?"
"Sure."
"Does Paisley not like me?" Layla asks. She knew Paisley was jealous because her and Starr spend a lot of time together, but Paisley honestly cannot dislike her because she hasn't done anything to the girl.
"No. Why would you think that?" Starr asks, eating another carrot stick. "I don't know, but she's giving off vibes that she doesn't like me very much. She always gives me a side glance when she sees me near you."
"Paisley gets jealous pretty easily."
"She doesn't need to be jealous. We're just friends," Layla says. "Just ignore her, it will blow over, don't worry."
Layla nods and she continues eating her carrots.
"Last night, Thea told me the most ridiculous thing about me liking Scott. Can you believe it," Layla says, chuckling to herself. She looks up to see the girl staring at her. "It's hilarious, right?"
Starr just keeps on staring at Layla with wide eyes. "Do you like Scott?" Starr asks. "No, of course not, Starr. He's just my friend."
Layla wasn't really sure of her feelings. They had spent a lot of time together and there can be a possibility she developed a little crush, but that's it. Her liking Scott was not true.
"I hope so because I don't want you getting hurt," Starr says before adding, "Scott is already head over heels for Allison and if you like him, you're just going to get hurt."
"Oh."
She didn't know why she felt disappointed by her words. "Yeah, anyone can see how much he likes her.""You can say that again. I never thought Scotty would actually get himself a girlfriend, and they'd last this long," Starr says, looking over at Layla. She could see the disappointment in the girl's eyes.
Layla gives an awkward chuckle. "I'm going to get myself a coffee. You want one?" she asks, standing up.
"Sure. Black please."
Layla stands up, and she walks over to where the coffee truck was. She reaches the coffee truck, but she accidentally walks into someone, causing the person's coffee and books to fall to the ground.
"Oh God, I'm sorry," she mumbles, crouching down to pick the books up. He crouches down in front of her. "It's okay."
She looks up and their eyes make contact. He has really blue eyes. "I'm so sorry. . ." she mumbles, waiting for him to tell her his name.
