 In A Secret Relationship with My Boss

Prologue

"Ladies and gentlemen, we have just landed at Ninoy Aquino Internation Airport —

I slowly opened my eyes as I heard the flight attendant announced that we're already landed. Most of the passengers are smiling. I mean, who wouldn't? We landed safely and nothing goes wrong. Siguro ay nasasabik na rin ang ibang balik-bayan na makita ulit ang kani-kanilang pamilya, ang iba'y maluha-luha na't halatang excited talagang makababa, which made me smile more.

My family arrived in the Philippines last week, bringing everything we needed. Pinasabay ko na sa kanila lahat ng gamit ko,nauna ang flight nila pauwi because I still have an important matter to attend to. So basically, all I had to bring was myself.

Pinagmasdan ko ang kabuuan ng airport at natagpuan ko ang aking sarili na nakatingin sa 'exit' sign. I was about to walk outside when my phone rang, agad kong tinignan kung sino ang tumatawag 'saka ito sinagot.

"Hello, ma?"

"Tonyo will pick you up there, he'll accompany you to the hospital. Nandoon si Nena, I dropped them there before going to the office. Something came and it's really urgent." My mother sounds so nervous, I can feel it through the line.

"What? Why? What happened?"

"Haru is sick, hindi bumababa ang lagnat niya kahapon pa. Nand'yan na si Tonyo sa labas hinihintay ka. I gotta go, ingat kayo."

Binaba ko ang telepono at mabilis na naglakad palabas. Agad ko namang nakita si Kuya Tonyo dahil kumaway ito sa akin. He immidiately started the engine and drove to the hospital. Buong byahe akong walang imik dahil sa balita ni mama.

"Lagnat lang 'yon, ma'am. Malakas ang batang 'yon, mana po sa inyo. Malapit na po tayo." Kuya Tonyo assured, mukhang naramdaman nito na nag-aalala ako.

I heaved a deep sigh and smiled a little. "He'll be fine, he'll be fine." I whispered.

We arrived at the hospital safely, mabuti na lang talaga at walang traffic. Sinundan ko si Kuya Tonyo dahil alam niya kung nasaan sina Haru at Manang Miling.

"Ito po 'yon, ma'am. Room 405."

I silently opened the door, naabutan ko si Manang na kinakausap at pinapakain si Haru. He's eating his favorite food, cookies and milk.

"Gagaling na ang Haru namin 'di ba?"

"Yes, ate! I feel strong naman na po."

I just found myself wiping my tears habang pinagmasdan ko silang nag-uusap.

"Mommy!" Haru shouted, he sounded excited. Gusto pa nitong umalis sa bed but I motioned him not to. Dumako naman ang tingin ni Manang Miling sa akin, tumayo ito atsaka ako nginitian.

"Bumaba na ang lagnat niya, ako'y lalabas muna't bibili ng mga prutas. Na-miss kita, Mavi. Ang laki na ng pinagbago mo." She said and gave me a hug.

"Sige manang ako na po ang bahala rito. Naroon po si Kuya Tonyo sa lobby." I said as I sat on the chair beside Haru.

"How are you, anak?" I asked while caressing his hair and held his hand.

He smiled at me and kissed my cheeks. "I'm fine na po kasi, you're here na."

"What did you do when mommy is away?"

"I played lang po. Tapos I eat and sleep, and then my temperature became hot po. So, Lala send me here with Manang Miling."

I cupped his face. "Sabihin mo agad 'pag may nararamdaman ka, okay? You tell me when something is bothering you, if you have questions, if mommy hurted your feelings and she's not aware. Everything, tell me everything. No secrets okay?"

"No secrets po, yes po mommy. The doctor said din na I should tell him what I'm feeling para he knows what to do."

Napa-ngiti ako, nakikinig talaga siya sa mga sinasabi naming mga matatanda sa kaniya. Maya-maya ay dumating na si manang at kuya. Mayroon silang dalang prutas at lunch galing sa isang fast food chain.

Hinihintay na lang namin ang doktor para mailabas si Haru. Dahil kailangan pa siyang i-check bago maka-alis. I decided to go out for a while because Haru is craving for french fries and I saw a fast food near the hospital, earlier. I was about to open the door when I sensed someone on the other side doing the same thing, someone is holding the knob.

The next thing I knew is, I’m being hugged… by someone. A manly scent welcomed my nose. I was taken aback from his sudden action. I never expect we’ll meet each other again, and worst in this situation what if he will find out about Haru right now?! I’m not yet ready.

“I miss you, Sofia.” His hugged become tighter, like he doesn’t want me to let go. The last time I checked he loathed me but why he’s being like this? Pero mas ikinagulat ko nang hayaan ko ang sarili kong magpatianod sa mainit niyang yakap.

“W-who are you?” I whispered. I felt him froze on his spot.

His hands slowly loosen around my body and I took the chance to get away from his hugged.

“Sorry, I mistook you for someone.” Longingness is evident in his voice as he said the word ‘someone’.

“Okay, by the way I gotta go!” I waved my hands and turn my back at him.

I saw the pain across his eyes as he watch me.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath when I closed the door.

I’m sorry Klue if I have to lie again.

I walked closer to my son, and he’s sleeping peacefully. Maybe he’s just tired a while ago. I lean forward to him and kissed his forehead.

“Your father is here right now, son. I’m sorry if he still don’t know about you. I promise, I’ll introduce you to him soon,” I whispered.
