I am nervous to meet Gemma's friends. I heard that most people from the other houses don't like Slytherins, which is very presumptuous because not every Slytherin is the same and has the same morals and personality traits. But Gemma has reassured me that these particular Ravenclaws don't care which house Im from and that she herself is also a Slytherin and they like her just fine.

Gemma and I have been quite close over these past two weeks. I don't know what it was, we just clicked. I see her as my best friend, that used to be Draco...

We were like friends at first sight.

Gemma and her friends have planned to study in the library and since this is my first year at hogwarts, I could definitely do with some studying.

We arrive at the library and I follow Gemma over to a table in the corner where a blonde witch and a brunette wizard are sitting. Gemma sits down opposite them and I sit down next to her.

The Ravenclaws stop and look up from their work.

"You've brought a friend with you Gemma, how lovely." Says the blonde witch in a high melodic voice.

"Yes, guys this is Xenia Lopez. Xin this is Kai Hayes and Luna Lovegood." Gemma introduces. Luna puts her hand across the table for me to shake, "Pleasure to meet you Xenia."

I smile warmly at her as I shake her hand, "you as well Luna."

Kai is looking at me suspiciously and it finally it gets annoying, "it's rude to stare you know!" I snap and he just continues to stare, "I know." He says.

"Kai come on, she's great once you get to know her." Gemma says.

"Am I not great before you get to know me?" I ask looking at Gemma. She grins at me, "well no, you can just come off as a little unfriendly and intimidating."

"I'm not intimidated by her!" Kai says, defensive much, "I'm wary of her. Wary of Slytherin, you know some of the most evil wizards and witches are Slytherins."

I scoff, "that's because Slytherins are ambitious enough to get what they want."

"Thats not an excuse to do horrible things!" He argues.

"I never said it was! And not all Slytherins are the same and have the same personality. Like what you think I'm gonna become your best friend and then stab you in the back Hayes?"

He narrows his eyes, "exactly." I gape at Gemma and she just takes out her books from her satchel.

"Lets just start studying."

Two hours later and I am bored of studying and bored of arguing with Kai over the answers. Its now 4pm according to Luna's brightly coloured watch and Im hungry, having skipped lunch.

"How about, me and Luna sneak off to the kitchens to get some snacks, Luna's friends with the house elf's." Gemma declares and my stomach growls 

"Yes please, that would be amazing. Want me to come with?" I ask hopefully and Gemma smiles.

"You should stay and keep Kai company, you guys can bond." I groan as Luna let out a small laugh that sounds like bells ringing.

They walk away and I turn to glare at Kai to find him already glaring at me.

"Fine. Lets bond." I say.

Somehow we manage to make 'bonding' a competition. Doing rapid fire questions and seeing how fast we can answer them without stuttering.

"Favourite colour?" I ask.

"Forest green."

"Favourite subject," he says.
