The Night

It’s been a long time since Tara had last picked up a gun to kill .

She had left that life behind she told herself every night but those dreams just wouldn’t leave her , the bloody deaths she had caused had come back to haunt her with a terrifying vengeance.

Even now ,she would catch her thoughts drifting to a certain partner of hers , she wonders what he would be doing now.
Would he have retired like her or was still living of a life of crime?

At times she was missing the thrill of the game . The adrenaline ,the power of holding another humans’ life in her hands though she did not miss the bloody mess she would become after each kill. She was no longer high in demand but easily replaceable and every time she was reminded of that by her boss  ,she would feel the impulse of slitting his throat with the sharp scissors he kept on his desk .She would imagine all the hubris melting away from his face as he begged her leave him his life .

All her life she had been playing a game of mouse and cat and this time instead of being the predator she was the prey and this went against every fibre in her body . But she held out and denied her impulses for the longest time till she finally snapped and killed that lousy excuse of a boss slowly,enjoying every scream and whimper he made .She left the delusion that she could ever be normal ,ever be another person walking on the streets.

She was built to be a weapon ,an assassin and its high time she she accepted that.If she was going to be bad,she decided ,she was going to be the baddest of the all. Just like that everything fell into place .She picked up her phone and dialed a number  ,after two rings a deep voice answered and she replied ,"Got any left ?"

On the other side of the line somewhere in Europe a man smiled a razor sharp smile and replied in a casual tone,"I was waiting for this call.Come meet in Long Island in our safe-house tomorrow,chica.Adiòs"
