Evelyn's POV
I was in the passenger seat of Charlie's cruiser as we drove from Seattle to Forks. It was silent and kinda awkward, but that was Charlie's style.

I decided to patiently wait for Charlie to speak first, so that way he wasn't uncomfortable. I continued to play with Miss Penny as he kept glancing at me from the corner of his eye. We stopped at a four way street to let a logger truck pass and he suddenly cleared his throat.

"Reb— Evelyn you cut your hair?" He asked, I looked up at him and nodded "Yeah, it was an asymmetrical pixie, but then it started growing out and now it's an asymmetrical bob" I giggled slightly, and he gave me a relieved smile. He probably asked Bella the same question and got shot down.

"I like the bob, it's cute" he complimented, and I smiled "Thank you!" He nodded "So Wilson told me about your uh little space?" I nodded to silently say that was the right word. He nodded as well and cleared his throat again "I gave you Grandpa Geoffrey and Grandma Helena's old bedroom. Their bookcase is actually a door that they used for an art studio. I cleared it out and decorated both rooms with Sue Clearwater and her daughter Leah's help."

He was rambling. He obviously wanted my approval "Did you tell them about my little space?" I asked, he quickly shook his head "No! That seemed very private, I just told them that it was a safe space since you had ptsd" I nodded "Thank you Uncle Charlie, I'm sure that I'll love the rooms" I saw him cringe slightly when I said 'Uncle' instead of 'Dad'.

I looked back at Miss Penny.

I don't know what he expected, when Renee was abusing me he ignored it. When Bella pushed me downstairs, or forced me to eat mud pies, or it glass in my shoes he ignored it claiming that Bella was to innocent to do something so horrible. When I finally escaped them at age fourteen and moved in with mom and dad, he didn't fight for custody over me.

He may have been abused by Renee (and emotionally abused by Bella), but he chose to abandon me. He wasn't my father anymore, Wilson was. He made his bed, now he can lay in it. Did that make me a meanie?

He cleared his throat and shifted in his seat as we entered a familiar neighborhood "There's only two bathrooms, the master in my room and the upstairs bathroom that you'll be sharing with Bella" I nodded and mumbled out "Okay" he continued "You'll also be starting school tomorrow with Bella. Wilson— your father sent over a car yesterday. The keys are at home right now, but you'll get them when we arrive."

I look back at him and nod my understanding and gratitude that he understood that he was no longer my father "Where's Bella?" He sighed and said "The first two months after Edward left, she just sat at her window and stared at it. She barely ate or slept. She only left to go to the bathroom. She never said a word" I frowned at the description. It sounded really bad.

I thought back to a time when Bella ever acted like that. I only remember her being a selfish tyrannical brat. She acted a little bit like this whenever we visited Forks for two weeks during the summer, but never this severe. She didn't act like this when Jacob Black came out as gay. She just refused to return to Forks. It was honestly a surprise that she moved here and got a boyfriend.

"After two months she started going back to school. She still is barely sleeping and eating. She has nightmares every night and honestly acts like a zombie" Charlie continued, I frowned this was a little extreme for a breakup "How long ago was the breakup?" I asked, Charlie looked really uncomfortable now.

"Six moths ago...." He said hesitantly, my eyes bulged out "What?! Six months?! Charlie that isn't okay! Why haven't you sent her to a mental institution?!" Charlie parked us outside the house. The only other vehicle was a shiny new gray sedan.
