I smiled and nodded at him prior to, I left his car. I was happy he had no clue what I had planned tonight. He didn't go until I finally go inside my house. He was always so caring to look after me like that.
A modest precedent midnight, I slipped on my nicest pair of skinny jeans, shimmery make-up and a simple band tee-shirt, ready to slip away my back door and meet Tristan for tonight. I couldn't stay. He would be so stoked. Well, the more I note about it, the more I realized no one would be contented having someone stir them up in the middle of the dark, but like there was anything I could do about that. This event was planned for this night, and this time only, anyways. Silently, I slipped out of the door, closing it silently and praying none of my parents could hear. This wasn't the first time I snuck out, but I couldn't take any chances. This was such teenage-like behavior, almost bringing a giggle to my lips. I told myself to shut up before anybody heard me. I walked over to his silent house, not too far from mine, the night air hanging on my clothes. It was very cold out here. Up above was Tristan's room, and because I snuck over to his house countless times, there was now a ladder just for me. "Tristan," I called, as I squeezed through his window. "Tristan!" He was there, sleeping peacefully in his dark room. All I could hear was his quiet snoring. "Tristan Dale! Wake up!"
"Mom?" I heard him mumble. He looked up, suddenly jumping at the sight of me perching on his window. "Get your butt off the bed," I commanded, not a hint of doubt in my voice. I wanted him to come with me tonight.
I watched him sit up and look back at me, rubbing his eyes. "What the hell are you doing here this late?"
"There's a get together tonight, more like a concert really, with lots of undiscovered bands performing live. For free."
"Mmhmm.." Tristan said, rolling back into his sleep, uninterested.
"Tristan!" I called again. "I know these bands aren't famous, but it's a live show! Only a few people get to go in and I got tickets for both of us."
"How'd you manage that?" He mumbled, his back still facing me.
"School connections, now come on! This is like, once in a lifetime. You might even find your own favorite band..." I sounded like a commercial ad, desperately trying to convince him to do what I asked. "..Tristan! Please? I can't go alone, it won't be any fun."
He groaned, and I groaned back, until I finally saw him sit up and make a face at me. "You owe me."
"Whatever," I said, smiling. "Now come on."
How does someone describe a concert? Because honestly, there are too many countless words to portray what I went during this concert, scratch that, this gathering of different bands, was an impeccable and fantastic experience. Tristan, with the help of another guy, lifted me into the air, my legs resting on both their shoulders, my hands reaching out to the air. Now as light as I was, I didn't believe I was this light. I felt like I was floating, not being carried. I prayed I wouldn't fall. But this was nothing compared to the musical experience. The music, it flowed through my veins, pulsing, the crowd and giving us all a reason to sing. The lights flashed on back and forth as a guitars sound echoed throughout the room and sent people cheering a thundering cheer, loud and somewhat musical to the ears. Though it was hot and boisterous, filled with sweaty, tired people, I knew they all enjoyed every minute of it. I watched in awe as people all around us were surfing the crowd, falling back to the ground and being thrown in the air again. This crowd here was packed inside this large warehouse, but the sound in this place was fabulous, and I'm sure they all forgot about the time and place. They sang their hearts out, probably filled with adrenaline. I closed my eyes and smiled, taking a heap of air and letting it fill my lungs. It was amazing what music did to you. It vibrated. It made the atmosphere electric. You felt high by just being here,Music.
