Where It All Started

It's close to midnight on a cold Sunday night. A young teenage boy named Logan was cuddling in his blanket on a cot in his bedroom. He hadn't been to sleep yet, but as he drifted off, he envisioned himself talking to the worship pastor at his church about playing for his worship team. After he popped the question, Pastor Mike asked, "What instrument do you play?" "The keys," Logan replied. "Well, you're in luck because we need a new keyboardist since our previous one left the church," said Mike. He then had Logan sign a waiver and told him what time band rehearsals and soundchecks would be so that he'd be prepared for the upcoming Sunday. Then he woke up.

He washed his face, brushed his teeth, and went downstairs to see his dad Paul cooking breakfast, "What you whippin' up Dad?" he asked. "Chocolate chip pancakes, sausage, turkey bacon, and two fried eggs with soy milk as your drink." "Thanks, Dad," Logan replied as he walked to the bathroom to wash his hands. When he got back, he witnessed a beautiful plate sitting at the table, ready for him to devour.

As he examined his plate, his mouth started watering. As he dug in, he thought about his dream from the previous night. "Hey, Dad," said Logan, after taking another bite of his food. "Yeah," his dad replied. "I had an amazing dream last night." "What was it about?" Then, Logan recited his dream. "Do you think that this dream was a sign from God, being that you're still thinking about it?" Paul asked.

How does he know what I'm thinking about? Logan thought before replying with, "I think so," "Alright, do you wanna play for our church?" Paul asked. Logan speedily nodded. Then Paul called Logan's mom to discuss it with her, for she was on her break at work.

After a long phone conversation, Paul looked at his son with a massive smile on his face. "Your mother and I agreed, and we're buying you a full-sized keyboard tonight so that you're exposed to all the keys when we sign you up for piano lessons in a few weeks." Logan grew the biggest smile on his face now as he ran to his dad and gave him the biggest hug he could give him.

As time passed, Logan's mom came home and greeted everyone. Then told Logan to get ready to go while she ate and showered. So he put on something casual and grabbed his hoodie in case it was cold either outside, in the store, or both. Not long later, they left.

2nd Moment: Exploring The Keys

As they approached a music center nearby, Logan eagerly examined the storefront. The moment they walked inside, Logan spotted a full-sized keyboard next to an organ, and they were each on sale for 40% off the regular price.

" Can we get the keyboard and the organ, please?" Logan asked. "Sure, we'll get both for you so that when you've mastered the keyboard, you can transition to the organ. Of course, only if that's an instrument you're willing to learn," Paul said. "Yes, sir, I'm certain," Logan said with a rugged yet enthusiastic look on his face.

"Alright, take hold of your keyboard, and I'll get the organ for you," Paul said. So he took hold of the keyboard while his dad held the organ. Logan's mom offered to pay for everything. It was expensive, but it all worked out. All the way home, Logan couldn't stop himself from smiling as he held onto his keyboard and stared at his organ in the trunk.

Logan saw his little sister Lydia looking out of the window next to his puppy Asher when they got home. Logan and Lydia waved at each other. Then he went inside with the keyboard in hand and Paul right behind him, carrying the organ inside.

As soon as they settled in, Logan set up his new keyboard in his room in preparation for what the next couple of weeks might look like. Then he quickly went downstairs to fix dinner for himself, for he was famished. Afterward, he chilled in his room and watched Suicide Squad on his flat-screen TV. After a few good scenes, he fell asleep. Luckily, he took his glasses off before he hopped in his bed!
