Chapter 3: The First Mission

It was morning. I was peacefully sleeping until I was woken up by my kasugai crow. Great. "Y/N RENGOKU! HEAD TO TOKYO! JOINT MISSION WITH THE MIST HASHIRA TOKITO MUICHIRO!"

"WHAT!"

"GO NOW! CAW! NOW! CAW!"

"OK JEEZ!" I got out of my futon, did the things I would do usually in the morning, got my sword ready and put my uniform on. Then I said goodbye to Senjuro and Kyojuro.

"Bye my favourite twin ever and onii-chan!" I said while going out the estate. My crow kept reminding me that the mission was in Tokyo but I didn't remember if it was a solo or joint mission.

I eventually got to Tokyo and then I remembered it was a joint mission, but not with who. I couldn't see anything because of all the people here - I hate myself sometimes for being short, I'm only a little bit taller than Shinobu. I took a few more steps and my eyes led to Muichiro's long, black and mint hair. He then turned around and saw me as well. "Oh...hi y/n!" he said.

"Oh yeah I completely forgot the mission was with you! Uh...sorry about that," I said as I looked away from him in embarrasment.

"No, it's ok," he calmly said as he patted my head gently, "I'm forgetful too, now let's go and find the demon we came here to fight.

so yeah, smoke breathing, 7 forms with an extra final form that will be introduced later

First form: smoke slashes (a bunch of slashes used to hid the user and for attack and defence)

Second form: layered haze (each slash of the sword there's more smoke like 'striking tide' in water breathing)

Third form: toxic storm (a whirlpool of smoke and slashes and hides the user)

Fourth form: strange fog (a thrusting attack)

Fifth form: blind bombs (multiple plunging attacks)

Sixth form: rising smoke (a circular motion like 'rising scorching sun' in flame breathing)

Seventh form: suffocation (a lot of smoke to hid the user and the demon/s start to suffocate)

Smoke breathing mimics smoke which reduces the victim's vision and ability to breath, slowly making the victim weaker, and makes them go insane. Also some crazy parkour skills and quick strategy making skills are needed to be able to use smoke breathing

Muichiro then took my hand and held it tight. Again, it was warm compared to mine. And we started to scour the area. Still, just a lot of people could be seen, until we saw two strange figures with hoods and two horns sticking out one of their faces. They were demons for sure. Immediately, we started to run after them and they went into a small alley and so did we.
"We have you cornered whoever you are," Muichiro said with no expression.

"So come out and show yourself," I finished.

"Well, so, it's me Lower rank 4 Mukago," she said.

"And Lower rank 2 Rokuro," the other demon said.

"Wait where did the girl go?" Mukago said as she and Rokuro stared around the alley.

"SMOKE BREATHING SECOND FORM: LAYERED HAZE!" I said as I jumped off a hole in a wall and headed for Mukago.

"Mist breathing fourth form: shifting flow slash," Muichiro said as he went for Rokuro. We both cut their legs off. (just saying I don't know their blood demon art, so timeskip to near the end of the fight which is a few minutes bc Muichiro is very strong).

I almost got some of my fingers cut off but I saved them. Rokuro and Mukago were very weak and it didnt seem they could fight anymore. A few cuts on our bodies, and we were ready for the final blow.
"SMOKE BREATHING THIRD FORM: TOXIC STO-" Mukago then kicked my stomach and I went flying to the wall, blood splattered violently everywhere from my mouth - I felt a lot of pain.

"Y/N! MIST BREATHING FIFTH FORM: SEA OF CLOUDS AND HAZE!" he then beheaded both Rokuro and Mukago and they both disintegrated and died.

"Y/N! Are you alright? Y/n please don't die on me!"

"M.....mui....mui-kun".

"y...y/n?"

"I'm so tire-". I then went unconscious and passed out.

"That's great, she passed out.....I need to take her to Shinobu-sama," Muichiro thought to himself. He then picked me up bridal style and ran as fast as he could to Shinobu's estate. In 0-2 hours he got there feeling tired and exhausted.

"SHINOBU-SAMA!"

"Muichiro?" Aoi said.

"Aoi, where is Shinobu?" he asked.

"Oh, unfortunately, she's on a mission right now, but I will help you so what's the problem?"

"Me and y/n were on a mission and she got kicked to a wall so her stomach and back hurts and she passed out of the pain," Muichiro explained.

"Oh ok now follow me we'll put her on a bed and treat her okay. Don't worry she'll be fine," Aoi said. He then followed her and he layed her on the bed.

"Thanks Aoi," Muichiro said.

"No problem, it's just what I do!" she said, "you can go home now, come here tomorrow to give Shinobu-sama some details okay!"

"Okay, I will try to remember, thanks again and sayonara," Muichiro said.

"Sayonara!" Aoi said. Muichiro then headed to his estate. But he felt very worried, but also...he knew he had never acted this way toward the other hashiras before. He felt butterflies in his stomach and he couldn't figure out what he was feeling...perhaps love?
