Neighbors since the day you were born. That's what you and Mariano were at first, neighbors. But as young kids, the both of you were bound to be friends when all the both of you did all day was to play together outside, may it be tag, hide and seek, or hopscotch. Granted, nothing would be able to defeat you and Dolores' friendship but you and Mariano's tandem were a close second.

Both his and your individual creativity contributed greatly to the friendship. You tried to teach him to paint but that soon became a mess when he thought red and yellow would mix to create purple and from there the small snowball of messes rolled down to become an avalanche chaos, paint splattered everywhere and canvases thrown haphazardly was the main evidence for this. In exchange for your half-assed mentoring, Mariano also attempted to teach you in writing poetry. Which was another mess in itself, apparently the "Roses are red, violets are blue," structure was the worse start of a poem for the gentleman which started a debate settling between the both of you that resulted in peacefully agreeing to just leave the painting and pottery up to you and leave the letters and poetry up to Mariano.

Your duo would often visit one another, I mean distance really isn't a problem when your houses are only five steps apart, right? The two of you would often catch up with one another when the both of you can since your schedules are often packed, it's either you're doing your crafts or selling your wares and Mariano was out and about doing his stuff. And catching up, usually means having the other over for a meal. There were even times when the other would show up uninvited, but it wasn't something that was discouraged as it happens repeatedly.

So it wasn't a surprise that the soft hearted man was knocking on your door not too early in the day. What was surprising were the items held in his hands that you saw after you opened the door. Yellow daisies in his left bunched up using a red ribbon tied to a cute little bow, and a horizontally folded note in his right. Your eyes went back to Mariano's and back to the items. Back and forth, back and forth, and back and forth.

"You do know that there won't be a time that I will like you like that right?"

"Don't flatter yourself too much Y/n, despite your quite effective charms and likable qualities you're someone I won't fall for," the fine young man smiles, which soon leads you two into a laughing fit.

"Are you sure though? I have seen Pedro eyeing me for a time now, but I'm not sure if it's actually because of my new pots." You said jokingly. No matter what world the both of you will live in, it's impossible for the two of you to be in a romantic relationship, for many many reasons.

"These," he held the items higher, "were left on our doorstep, I don't know who did, but with your name on the letter I figured they were confused with the address."

He shoved the items into your arms which in turn made alarms blare and echo in your mind. The flowers that's currently in your arms were daisies, and to be specific they were Lakeside Daisies, which you knew since you've kept reading Flowerpedia, thank goodness for the sketches provided for every plant and flower entry. If your memory was correct, the book said that despite their tame and simple yet adorable appearance, they were very high in pollen. So out of panic and instincts your initial reaction was to toss it back to Mariano, the bunch barely touching your skin. Bless the man for his time reaction as he grasps the daisies a bit messily but still manages to keep the bouquet unscathed.
