Rain

Tuesday, 5 October

The sound of rain hitting the roof of the apartment building enters my ear as I slowly wake up.

I open my tired eyes and take a deep breath.

"Sooooooo......."

The smell of iron enters my nose.

I look to the left of me.

Raindrops slide down the glass window,

A huge flash of lightning struck in the distance.

Soon followed the faint sound of thunder.

It was dark outside, rather, it was a color that I am all too used to seeing in the mornings.

The dull and gloomy color of grey.

"Ah... it's raining again."

I look over to my pillow.

"What time is it?"

I searched the bottom of my pillow while still lying on my bed.

I found nothing.

"Uhh... it's not here?"

I sigh deeply and proceed to lift myself up from my bed.

I reflexively stretch out my arms and stand on my bed to stretch out my whole body.

"Guhh.. my body feels so heavy..."

"And my eyes still refuse to open completely."

I sigh deeply as I get off my bed.

"Despite that, it appears that I'm still alive and breathing."

I scratch my head.

Even though it was not itchy.

"Now then, where did I put my phone."

I look to the right of me in my desk was.

At the desk scattered are crumpled papers, a half empty tissue box, a handgrip, my keyboard which had ballpens resting on it, and a bag of chips that I didn't finish eating yesterday.

But my phone was nowhere to be found on my desk.

I whisper to myself in a soft voice:

"I probably should clean my desk."

At the back of the desk was my monitor tucked in the corner of the wall facing me sideways.

Beside the monitor are some books neatly arranged in order of their use.

The monitor was still on and displayed a blank document page.

I stare at the monitor for a few seconds before turning my focus away from it.

I whisper with a blank face, "Another wasted day."

I move pass the monitor and enter the bathroom next to my desktop.

I wash my face and look at my reflection on the mirror.

The mirror reflected a person in his late teens, with a thick unkempt black hair, round glasses, and a blank facial expression.

Their face is nothing out of the ordinary, a 6/10 at best.

The listless and tired expression they have is probably the result of mental exhaustion due to a variety of reasons in their life.
