“Oi, Bellerum! Get your ass in here!”
What a lovely way to be welcomed. I rolled my eyes and headed in the direction of the voice. “Really, Black? You do think you’re funny, don’t you?” I couldn’t help but smile when I was greeted by my bestfriends dark, chocolate eyes and beautiful hair poking out of the compartment door.
“You know you love me,” he tilted his head and smiled, opening his arms for a hug.
I gladly ran to him and hugged him tightly.
“We only think we’re hilarious because we are,” another voice chimed.
“James.” I released Sirius to greet James. “You guys are impossible.” I said, still grinning from ear to ear.
“No, we’re not completely impossible. Only painfully insufferable boys that you can’t help but be friends with.” James messed with my hair but backed away as soon as I shooed his hand away.
“Watch it, Potter.” I glared at him playfully.
“What’s got her wand in a knot?” Peter’s voice came from behind me.
“Does no one know how to say a simple ‘hello’ anymore?” I complained, then I remembered the one guy who would have had the decency to greet someone politely which the other three didn't have. “Wait, where’s Rem?” Everyone shrugged as Sirius helped put my bags in the luggage area.
The train gave it’s warning blares, signifying that it’d be leaving soon. James took his seat by Peter while Sirius sat by me.
“Should I look for him?” I asked.
“I’m sure he’ll come sooner or later,” James replied. “Remember- he does this every year, Bell.”
I frowned a little, “I guess so.”
It was true. Remus did this every year, except I wasn’t here for the first when all of them met on this train. This is my fifth year and their sixth. It was always hard to believe that time had passed so quickly. Being friends with these four boys made my life so much better in every aspect of my life. I was grateful for every single one of them, especially since we were a tight group and everyday was an adventure. I was more close with Sirius since he was the one I first became friends with.
I met Sirius in first year after my detention with Severus. He’d gone out of his way to embarrass me in front of everyone in my grade for not blowing up my potion, I wasn’t sure why but maybe it was because I was a Gryffindor. No one wanted to be friends with me afterwards but Sirius started hanging out with me lots, and I ended up hanging out with their group as well. To this day I still don’t talk with anyone in my year. Over the years Sirius became very over protective of me and always caring, much like an older brother.
I was so glad to be back with this lot, all of them ranked top five in my books, though there were only four of them. Everything seemed more, awake and alive when they were around. Even boring and mundane things made me ecstatic when I was with them. Though our friend group did take things seriously at times, like two years ago, for example. In my third year we all found out that Remus was a werewolf, so everything sort of clicked into place.
Within the first few minutes of sitting in the compartment we spoke about what we wanted as a career and I’d always been firm on becoming an alchemist, just like Nicholas Flamel. Sirius, on the other hand, just didn’t want to be anything that made his parents happy. Both James and Peter said they were considering becoming something in the Ministry of Magic, Peter didn’t know what yet and James wanted to be an auror.
As the subject proceeded to become about crushes, James became the center of attention- completely gushing over Lily Evans.
“Come on, James,” I said. “She isn’t interested.”
