As soon as Kian's crying fit ends, we all gather around the dining table and fest upon our glorious takeout food.
Jack and Sammy both snarl down their meals, leaving Kenny, Jack J, Kian and I to ourselves.
"Hey, how long is your summer break, Kian?" Kenny breaks the silence.
"Six weeks. It starts today."
I smile, since we have a few "illegal substance distributers" in the house, we can all afford to go on vacation together. No one has come to an agreement as to where, since we are all so indecisive.
"Come to an agreement yet, boys?" Sammy asks, taking a spot at the head of the table. Jack G comes in behind him on the phone and goes out to the porch to continue his call in peace.
"Well my vote's Hawaii," walks in another boy in the door with Jack G.
"Matt!" several of the boys run to greet him.
"Why you here, Matty?" asks Kenny.
"Had nothing better to do than hang out with you losers this summer break."
He fixates on me and Kian. "Who are they?"
"I'm Kian Lawley, and this is Sam Pottorff. We've been living here too, for awhile."
Matt's eyes grow large. "You're the kids who are missing, from uh- San Caliente, right?"
"San Clemente," I correct him.
He nods.
"Your dad is the one who-" he starts to say. Jack J covers his mouth with his hand.
"Oh, right. Probably a little touchy subject, huh.."
"Well Hawaii sounds amazing," Sammy says to diffuse the awkward.
"Hawaii it is," states Jack G.
