*Flash Back 10 years ago*
I was cradled in my mothers arms she held me close, I felt safe for once. My father had gone out for business again. When he left the house felt like a home it was safe,no shouting, no hitting just calm.
I looked into my mother's warm, comforting blue eyes. I knew she was in pain but she never showed it for us. She held me tighter as she heard the front door slam open. Heavy steps made their way to the kitchen. "Fathers home" she said you could almost hear the fear in her voice.
"Mom? Can I have a butterfly kiss please?" I asked "Of course, Ashlyn." She leant down and brushed her nose against mine. This was the way we expressed love. "Remember a normal kiss is not as special as a butterfly. Only give them to that special person." She said with a smile. Her smile quickly faded as she heard my drunk father screech her name. She gave me a tight squeeze and kissed my forehead. "I love you Ashlyn with my whole heart." She got up and locked my door with the key around her neck."
I lay there is the dark silence. I was about to fall asleep I heard it the loud shot of the gun. Then my mother's scream filled the house. And suddenly it was gone.
*End of Flashback*
Ten years since my mother's death yet it was still clear as day. I was 9 at the time now I'm 19. I missed her so much, she was my hope for life she helped me through everything she took my father's beatings for me and now she was gone.
My father banged on my bedroom door, "ASHLYN WE ARE GOING TO BE LATE HURRY UP!" he yelled. How hasn't he lost his voice by now? I pulled myself out of bed and showered. One of the maids had placed a black skin tight dress on my bed paired with a black pair of heels.
It fit like a glove but I was uncomfortable. I didn't like the way I looked. I would rather wear a loser dress. Jenny my maid, she is more of a older sister to me. She came in and her jaw dropped. "HOLY COW! Ashlyn you look gorgeous!" "Calm down Jen." I laughed.
She sat me down in my dressing table chair and curled my dark brown hair. We added a few pieces of jewellery and did some natural makeup the look was completed. I stood in front of my mirror and saw my ice blue eyes stare back at me.
"You look like you're mother" Jen said with a sigh. "I miss her, Jen she didn't deserve any of the sh*t my father did to her." Anger was starting to get the better of me. Calm down Ashlyn.
"He's gonna love you, Ash." Jen said with a smile. Him. The man I was forced to marry, he had the best mafia in the world, Noah Scarrow. I haven't told a single soul that I'm a lesbian not even Jen. To be honest I probably will never be able to love the one person I wanted to give butterfly kisses at night to, wake up in the mor next to them and smile. I don't believe in love anymore not after what happened to my mother.
I was ready physically ready but not mentally ready. I was shaking. I walked down the stairs where my father was waiting for me. "Finally Ashlyn took long enough." He grumbled. Not even a complement. Who I'm I kidding a complement from my dad? Never.
We got into the black limo my father was going through what was going to happen through out the day, "Firstly you will be introduced to Noah and will get to know him. Then you will be shown to you're room and unpack your stuff. You will meet his family and Jen will come later on to drop the rest of you're luggage. Ashlyn you better make a good impression or I'm gonna kill you like I killed you're mother." He growled. I stayed silent and tried not to cry.
After what felt like decades we arrived at the massive white mansion. The gates opened up and our limo drove around a big fountain spitting out water. I got out the car my heels touching the gravelled ground. We walked towards the house, more like castle and rang the bell.
After a few moments a gorgeous woman dressed in a white uniform opened up. "Hello, I am Ms Scarlett the main maid. I assume you are here for Sir Scarrow?" She asked politely. "Yes we are where is he?" My father was growing impatient. "This way sir." Shen lead us through the house sorry CASTLE. It was bigger on the inside. Through a entrance hall through the carpeted passage way down a few stairs, there were paintings of random people on the wall, I assume they were family.
My feet were getting tired my heels clanging against the marbled flooring. My father shot me a glare telling me to shut up I can't help that my heels made noise. Finally, I mean finally we made it to the dining hall. There was an old grand, 20 seater table and at the head sat Noah. He was in a black tuxedo his black curly hair was messy but neat at the same time. His piercing green eyes landed on me.
"Hello, please take a seat." He had a deep husky voice. I pulled out a chair and sat down. My father was across from me and I could feel his hard stare. I turned to look at Noah. "As you both know that this is a business marriage to bring the most powerful mafias together to form one. I will be the leader because my mafia is stronger." Noah began. My father was about to say something but closed his mouth after Noah shot him a hard glare.
They spoke some more about business while I fiddled with my dress's strings. It almost came undone but I quickly caught it and tied it up again. Finally what felt like hours, which it probably was. They were done talking. "Good doing business with you Sir Scarrow." My father told Noah. "You too Mr Gable." Noah replied. They got up and shook hands. Noah turned to me "Ashlyn, Scarlett will show you to your bedroom." He told me. "Thank you." I said, he stared at me what else must I say? I added "...Sir" "Good now I'll go call Scarlett. Ashlyn go get ready you are going to meet my twin sister and younger brother soon."
Scarlett had showed me to my room. I flopped down on my bed exhausted my feet hurt from being in 7 inch heels the whole day. "Sir Scarrow wants you to wear something casual but formal when you meet his family for dinner. Dinner will be at 7:30 pm." "Thank you so much Scarlett." I said to her with a smile. I glanced at my phone 5:30 pm I had time for a nap right?
I slipped out of my dress with great difficulty and put on a large t-shirt. Wiped all my makeup off, set an alarm. I climbed under the covers and fell into a dreamless sleep.
