Her fingers run through her own hair,
She begs her conscience, pleading.
Her mind is spinning, going elsewhere,
Forbidding the sanity she's needing.
They are flying playfully through her mind,
Those nagging thoughts and words.
In her stomach they'll slowly grind,
And flutter their wings like birds.
She's sweating, trying to find a way
To overcome her problems telepathically.
She’s scared, can't leave them for another day,
While in reality she must solve them mathematically.
Dialogue and questions float around her,
“What are those words they speak?”
But, because her anxiety bound her,
She doesn’t ask, and remains meek.
Although she tries to abandon those,
The thoughts remain nagging.
In her desperation, her mind will close,
And those worries leave, almost bragging.
Won’t voice a word, won’t speak of them,
She stays awake at night.
Staring into the dark, until the a.m.,
Asking herself if she’s right.
Suffocating in lack of sleep,
And wiping her tired eyes,
She closes them and tries not to weep,
Though eventually into her pillow she cries.
Waking, steadying her breathing rate
And walking into society.
She still can’t focus, can’t concentrate,
Drowning in constant anxiety.
