It was mid September when I met Destiny. Destiny had this beautiful brown, curly hair. I think that's what caught my attention about them. Destiny was so kind, so caring, but could be very shy. The kind of shy where their not gonna come up to you first. But that wasn't the case with us. We had a connection and we could both feel it. The connection just drew us into each other.
In our school, at the beginning of the year, people were either assigned to eat in the cafeteria or auditorium because of COVID capacity. In September, I had some friends that I was really close too. We were all assigned seating in the lunchroom. But, because of the rebels we are (sarcasm), we went to the auditorium. It was much more quiet in there. I sat down with one of my friends, Ginny, beside me. Looking around the room, I see a figure sitting a couple rows down from me. Their shoes up on the chair in front of them. I thought they were so cool. My heart beat a little seeing them, butterflies even.
"who is that?" I whispered to my friend Faith sitting in the chair in front of me who i happened to see talking to the mysterious person.
"That's Destiny." They replied.
"Destiny?" I thought to myself, "that's a very pretty name.".
I called for Faith again, "can you tell them I said their pretty?" I asked.
"Yeah." They replied. Nervous butterflies fluttered my stomach seeing Faith telling Destiny what I had stated.
Destiny looked over to me and we made eye contact. More butterflies grew in my stomach.
"They said, thank you" Faith claimed. Me being my sensitive self whispered to Ginny who was ease dropping this whole time, "They didn't complement me back, they probably don't have any interest in me"
"Nora, your thinking to much into it" Ginny said.
"Maybe." I reasoned. I called Faith's name again, "I'm sorry but can you ask them if I can have their snap?" You see, I don't usually do this. I usually keep to myself and stick with the people i'm already friends with. But, this felt different.
"Yeah sure." they responded. Destiny looked over at me again, but this time, shook their head yes. I was excited.Later that day, Faith came up to me and gave me Destiny's snapchat. Added.
