Ferus was a name of fear as the ancient myths do believe that he was the ancient god who had his powers depending on dark forces. After the world was endangered because of his presence, other gods decided to trap him into somewhere from which he cant get out. The only way they can do was by making the place of his prison as forbidden or Haram as the arabs might say.
Even when the world reached the modern age, the myth was still going on, the Government themselves made it illegal to go on that island.
