In Chaundi
Sushila couldn't control her happiness. Her daughter was going to be a queen!
She called Ahilya and told her the news. After hearing that, Ahilya was upset, that without telling her, they fixed her marriage. She ran away to her room and locked the door from inside. A part of Sushila knew that Ahilya would react like this. Ahilya never wanted to marry, after seeing how her best friend Renu was treated by her in-laws. Ahilya was scared at the thought of marriage since it would take away her freedom to do anything from her. Sushila asked her husband to convince Ahilya. Mankoji went to Ahilya's room and said, "Ahilya, beta, come out now. Don't be stubborn." Ahilya said, "Daaji, I thought you loved me." "I do." "Then why did you fix my marriage?" Mankoji deeply sighed and said, "Ahilya, every girl has to get married one day. It does not mean that we don't love you. It's just that you can't stay at our house forever. One day you'll have to marry and go to another house." "Why?" "I don't know Ahilya, this is just how it's been. Do you know Goddess Parvati? Even she left her home to marry Lord Shiva." Ahilya sighed, although as much as she hated to admit it, she had no other option. So she opened the door and reluctantly said that she has agreed to marry. In the Holkar Palace
A soldier entered the chamber and said, "Ranisaheb, Malhar Sarkar has sent a message for you." The lady with whom he was talking to, turned around. She was Gautamabai, the first wife of Malhar Rao and the Patrani(Queen) of Malwa. She stood up and took the letter and the soldier bowed and left.
Gautama read the letter. Malhar Rao had written that he is going to come tomorrow and that he had chosen a wife for Khanderao. While she was happy that he was returning, she was not sure about the girl.
Gautama was a strict and intidimating woman. Everyone was a little bit scared of her and tried their best not to make her angry. But they and her family knew that while she was strict and intidimating, she was a sweet person inside. She trusted Malhar Rao, but she wanted to see if the girl is worthy of being the daughter-in-law of the Holkar family.
Suddenly someone else entered the chamber. Gautama smiled at her and said, "Harkubai saheb, aaiye andar." Harkubai said, "Akkasaheb, I heard that a letter has come from Sarkar." Gautama nodded and gave her the letter. After reading it, Harkubai looked at her, smiling. "Khanderao is about to get married?!" She exclaimed. Gautama nodded happily.
She couldn't wait to tell this to Khanderao. At night
Gautama entered Khanderao's chamber while he was playing the mridang. Khanderao saw his mother and asked her what was she doing in his room at night. Gautama said, "There's something I want to tell you." Khanderao looked confused and asked, "What?" Gautama sighed and said, "Your father has fixed your marriage." "WHAT???!!!" Shouted Khanderao. "I don't want to marry, Aaisaheb!!! Why did he do that!!!" Gautama calmed him down and said, "I know you are shocked right now, but it is the truth. Let's see how the girl is. Maybe you'll like her. You should give the girl a chance. Ok?" Khanderao looked at her with disbelief. Why did she agree to this? But she was right, he had no choice so he grumpily nodded. Gautama told him to wake up early tomorrow because they were leaving for Chaundi. Here's the third one. I have put up a video of a Khandelya vm by a channel Kriadi fans. Please do watch it.
