I'm calling Jakey Jake in this because it's both technically his actual name, and Jakey is seen as a spelling error on my computer and I don't want to see red squiggles all over this book-

On to the actual story, I won't do this often, if even a second time.

The two statues stood tall at the entrance, spears in hand, faceless and powerful.

She had finally arrived in the place that could only be called her doom. A place that could only lead to certain death for her, and not even a peaceful death.

'Better to rip it off, like a band-aid...'

Who was she kidding, she wasn't ready. How could she be? What happened in these gates was horrible, and now she had to live through it as one of the people in the center of it all. The cause of so much pain, the very sword resting in her hand dictating who will live and who will die.

Everything she was planning to do to soften the blow was the same as flipping a coin. There was no certainty it could work, and yet enough of a chance that it was worth a try. After all, who would rather have an enemy that truly hates them?

Finally, after gathering her courage, she walked into the gates, standing where Bryan had stood in the fantasy land she had indulged in happily before.

Now she was too scared to even think of what's to come.

They were all there, though she currently couldn't remember their names. The ones that would lead to her demise. Sons of Hades, though one of them didn't know that yet, sons of Poseidon, all standing as they should.

Except the son of Hades, the one that she would grow to know quite well. He was fidgety, looking around, seeming to be trying to pin-point someone in the semi-circle. Did the story already start to change with her little intrusions? No, it can't have, nobody but her and Hera were there to witness what had happened, and it was just her and Bri at their home.

So why was he so odd?

The dragon-like woman, daughter of Demeter, clapped her hands loudly, causing all chatter to cease as her voice echoed through the air, "Alright, everyone! I believe this is everyone new coming to camp this year?"

Murmurs of affirmation flowed from each person's lips, even her own since it was technically true. The only one that simply nodded was the mildly panicked son of Hades, further piquing her interest. Very different, indeed.

"Fantastic, I'm Kay, the camp counselor. I'm in charge here, and my godly parent is Demeter. We're going to go around and introduce ourselves with our names and our godly parent if we know who they are. Let's go from my left all the way around to my right."

And so the introductions began. After a certain son of Poseidon, Jake, she knew it was her turn to speak. Here goes nothing...

"Hi, I'm Bryan, son of Aphrodite. It's a pleasure to meet you all."

Huh...that was surprisingly easy. Had she decided that her old name didn't matter anymore that quickly?

Her thoughts didn't stop her from noticing the way the son of Hades, very soon after confirmed to be Xylo, flinched and stared at her with wide, fearful eyes. Did he somehow know what would happen?

That wouldn't be very good.

The circle ended and now the expected tour began, everyone running around to keep up with the shockingly fast slithering of Kay. She decided to ask a few simple questions now and then so she didn't look odd. When they came to the cafeteria, she didn't ask about food options because Kay had specifically said food for most diets. How the original Bryan hadn't quite heard that was a mystery.
