"Shut up," he told me, "I hate it when you cut me off. Anyways, where was I... Oh yes, so after we won the title, and all the cheerleaders -" Riker Darkson, senior idiot, captain of the football team, and I'm pretty sure he hated me. Of course, I'd never tell him he was an idiot. I thought it was kinda implied.

"So the whole point of that story was to inform us that you picked up girls who don't know the difference between themselves and a fence post," I questioned.

"No, Allison, Valerie and I also made a movie about our love. She filmed, I directed, and we called it Our Love." That has got to win an award for the stupidest movie title involving the least amount of thinking ever.

"Oh, so it was a horror story," I retorted. I quickly apologized. Snickers haunted the cafeteria but were immediately silenced by the cough of the football player. To be honest, I was kind of proud of myself for that one. I mean, a horror story? You call it lame; I call it sheer genius. But I'm sorry if that offended you. I trust your judgement. I have to.

We all sat in the abandoned cafeteria, gagging in the stuffy air that reeked of old lasagna and regret. It was midnight; we all come down here this late to hang out. And by "we all," I mean me, Riker, Valerie (head of the cheerleading squad, Riker's girlfriend), and Kiki (surfing prodigy). Valerie knows a way in through the roof, but the rest of us just walk throught the constantly unlocked doors. Everyone trusts everyone at this point. Most of the tables were stacked against the wall with the student body bulletin board. There were murals of dolphins, the school mascot, painted all across the room by people with too much time to kill. Half the tiles on the floor weren't even painted the same dull yellow as the others. But this place was like home to us.

"Do you think that scrawny Josh boy will score a date with Jade?" Valerie gossiped. I'm not going to lie, she's pretty. Pretty dumb.

"Does the sun rise every morning?" Riker replied, "Besides, Jade is gorgeous, beating everyone at this school like a hundred to one." Valerie gasped and slapped him right across the face.

"I mean, I love you honey!" Riker failed to fix that.
