I roll over on the bed to pick up my phone as I watch the clock. 7:07 a.m. Oh shit.
I pick up the phone without even looking into the number.
"Hi?" I say in a morning raspy voice.
"Dakota? It's Sam here. You're late, you should have been on the set at 7 a.m..."
"I know, I'm so sorry" I say while running into the bathroom to brush my teeth "I'll be there in 10, I'm so sorry Sam."
"It's okay, just hurry up we still have a lot of auditions to go into today..."
"Okay see ya!"
"See ya!"
Shit. I knew I shouldn't have watched a bunch of series last night but this past few weeks have been so stressful. Since Charlie left we have been running round and around to find a new Christian Grey. Sam and Erika have been amazing, they almost don't get any sleep trying to find someone who can fulfill all the requisites for Christian character.
As I go back to my room I pick up the first clothes I can find. I dress quickly into a black dress, black pantyhose, black boots and pick up fast my glasses and my leather jacket from the chair and run into the set.
Thank god the set it's just on the other side of the street so I can really just run. With all the running and antecipation to arrive the soon as I can I almost trip on the floor but quickly recover. Jezz Dakota watch your feet! Will I be always this clumsy?
As I arrive into the set Maria, my assistant, leads me right into the auditions' room.
"Good Morning Miss Johnson, here." as she lends me a starbucks coffee. "They're all in there waiting for you."
"Thank you Maria, you're my salvation! Okay now lets face the lions..."
As I enter the room Sam and Erika are seated in their chairs talking. They turn to me and the both give me a sympathetic smile. I look into my phone. 7:25 a.m. Okay Dakota you're late. Again.
"Good morning ladies." I say with a 'I'm so sorry' look on my face.
"Good morning!" They both respond in a unison.
"So can we start? You have your script?" Sam asks me.
Oh no. Fuck. The Script.
"I mm I forg-"
"Here Miss Johnson, Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. James." Maria lends me my script and leaves the room with a proud smile. God this girl is good, really good. I mout her a 'thank you'.
"So... let's start!" Erika suggests. I take my seat next to Sam, who's in the middle of me and Erika and I have a look at the auditions room. This has been without a doubt my home for the last few weeks. Since Charlie left the three of us have been in this room every single day looking for someone who can replace him. It's been exausting really and I'm starting to doubt we will ever find someone.
The room it's simply decorated, it has a tall grey brick wall behind us and the rest of the walls are simply white. For some reason I feel save here, this feels like home to me and this has been without a doubt a place where I can just forget about everything and have a great time.
It's 12:03 p.m when I look at my phone. Gosh, how did the time flew that fast?
We have been doing auditions for almost five hours and I have the feeling that we haven't find the right person yet.
As I look into Sam's face she takes a really long breath and says "This is our last one girls, our last hope or we will have to start all this all over again."
