I woke up naked. The blanket that I had used last night is currently wrapped around the plump body of a girl, who is one year younger than me, lying beside me.

I finally remembered the night before. I may have made a sin but I didn't regret it. It was only one time but it doesn't excuse me for cheating against my feelings.

I could have just pushed her away but I accepted her, fulfilling her final dream.

However, this won't heal her heart. This will only hurt her more.

That's why I wonder. Why does Ichika go so far for someone like me? I realize that I had caused more pain to her since her birth. Yagami made me realize.

It doesn't mean that since I was not the root cause of their suffering I didn't cause their pain.

Nonetheless, I regret nothing of it. I just wanted to survive like anyone else.

They were only dragged away by the facility's vision. Everything was dragged by the professor.

But it wasn't completely my fault. Still, I am not alright with leaving Ichika with pain.

But I still decided to do it. Was I forced or did I just really want it to happen?

The fabric near me rustles as Ichika starts to wake up.

"Senpai... Don't go..." I heard her mutter.

Sniffle. Sniffle...

Seeing her vulnerable was a first to me. She never cried before and only cried because of me.

All her pain is because of me.

I touched her cheek and wiped the teardrop off her pretty face.

"I'm sorry..." I really am very sorry for all this. I don't have enough power to defy my own fate. I've done all I can.

I've finished what I wanted.

But the ending that I wanted is never gonna be granted to me.

For all the pain that I caused to you and the other children, I will completely accept this punishment.

I want to find out everything and think about everything during my penance.

That will be my mission once I get punished.

"Senpai..." I heard her say again. A few seconds later, she opens her eyes and gazes into mine.

"Good morning, Ichika."

She held my hand before smiling.

"Best morning, senpai."

I just smiled too. Right.

This will be the last I will see the sunrise in its shining beauty.

"Yeah... You should leave before Mashima-sensei comes."

Knock. Knock.

"Ayanokouji. I'm coming in."

I was very surprised to hear his voice as soon as I mentioned him. What an unfortunate day.

"Sorry, senpai."

"It's fine."

Creak.

The door opened and I didn't hide anything except Ichika's body. I wrapped her properly with the blanket, enough to cover her from her neck to her toes.
