'Maybe in another lifetime'
Words that cut her deeper than the knife stashed away ever could
Words that hurt her more than she could begin to explain
Yet she just smiled through it
'Ofcourse! See you later'
They haven't spoken since
She never actually planned on speaking with him again
It was more of an act, some would say
He didn't ever really care about her, but he still wanted to let her down easily.
Which if anything, hurt more.
She wasn't vulnerable
She wasn't pitiful
No, she wasn't strong
And no, she didn't truly ever lover herself
But it gave her some comfort, those words
Maybe in another lifetime they would be perfect for each other
Maybe then, she could have been happy with how she looked
Maybe in another lifetime
