Chapter 3: The Longitude and Latitude
My vision clears up. Alex has her hand on my shoulder, attempting to calm me down. Christopher sits in front of me, and I assume he was the one who got the water for me. He looks more worried than when he came back from the door.
"What happened? Are you okay?" Christopher asked.
"Y-yeah. I d-don't know wh-w-what happ- happened." I stuttered. "I s-saw that m-man and I fr-freaked out."
"He's gone, Jordyn," Zyler said from the window. "What's going on?"
"I do-don't know! I th-think it has something to do with that man." I repeat. "As s-soon as I saw his f-fa-face... I have no idea."
"It's fine don't worry. You're okay now." Christopher comforts me.
They manage to calm me down and we all spend the night there, nobody wants to go anywhere after what had just happened.
A few days pass, and by the end of the week, we get messages from both of the investigators we hired.
On Friday, we meet back at the loft after school. (November 9th 2018 Friday) "Which email do we open first?" Alex asks.
I have my phone in my hand, we're all looking at my inbox, which is full of emails from video games.
"I say the first guy we found," Chris suggests.
"But shouldn't we find where it is, then where it comes from? That makes more sense." Lauryn argues.
"And what would you know about making sense?" Chris fires.
"Mor-" Lauryn is cut off by Zyler.
"Just press any damn email!" he says angrily.
I open the one at the top of the page, which turns out to be the information matcher guy.
"Dear Jordyn and friends, I researched the coordinate you found, and found something quite peculiar. It would be best to meet in person for this, please reach 12
out to me as soon as you read this to arrange something, you know where to find me. It will be worth it." I read the email out loud.
"That seems super creepy." Lauryn points out.
"Yeah, it's really ominous. I don't know if we should go." I agree.
"We already paid him! The man says he has information, let's find out what it is at least." Zyler protests.
"Can we just ask him to send us another email instead of meeting him?" Christopher asks.
"That's the best idea we have so far," I say.
"Thanks for the offer, but we would prefer it if you could send us a document instead. Just for privacy reasons, hope you understand." I say quietly as I type it. "Sent, let's open the other one."
I scroll back into my inbox and tap into the email.
"The picture below is a map of Eden, with a marker on where your location matches up with. It seems to be some sort of large building, I can't find any information on it, sorry. It seems to be either abandoned or under tight restrictions. I'm quite interested, keep me posted if you find anything else about it." I read again.
"She seems more friendly." Alex shrugs.
"Definitely," I say as I open the photo.
"What in the- that's right next to the barrier!" Christopher points to the screen.
"We've been in the same damn town for 16 years and not once has anyone heard of this building." Zyler was shocked.
"I have." everyone turns around and looks at me, "My dad goes there all the time for his job."
