In the dark of his living room, Wai was sitting with his back against his coffee table. His eyes were staring at the silhouette soundly asleep on his sofa.
The moment Wai had been done cleaning and covering his wounds, Korn had fallen asleep, and he hadn't wanted to wake him up then. He should have told Korn to go home, but instead, Wai had justified his inaction by thinking he didn't wish Korn to walk alone in the middle of the night. However, two hours later (sometime around 2 a.m), he tried to figure out what was going on with his feelings.
Wai couldn't sleep lately, as usual. His mind was too full of the latest events in his life, starting with Pat and Pran's relationship. He knew deep down he had done something terrible to Pran. Like real bad. He couldn't just out his best friend and expect him to be okay with it. However, Pran was an angel, and he hadn't cared about the whole thing for too long. It wasn't like he was ashamed of who he loved. After the shock of everybody knowing who he was dating, Pran started to follow Wai around to ask him to forgive him for not telling him he was in love. With Pat of all people.
Regardless, Wai was actually feeling guilty. So much so that it consumed him. His best friend had not felt safe enough to speak with him. And because he had had the absolutely brilliant idea to publicly out him like a complete douchebag.
So, yes, Wai felt like shit, and it was entirely, utterly, solely his fault. And Pran should be mad at him for that, not asking for his forgiveness.
But Wai was no angel, and he wasn't brave, so he had chickened out. Instead of rightfully apologising, he had told Pran that he was hurt but accepted his apology. Wai was a complete jerk, sadly.
The whole situation sucked, and Wai didn't know how to deal with it. It wasn't that Pran was dating a man that bothered him, or even that it was Pat. He didn't care about the gender of Pran's partner as long as his friend was happy. And he could deal with the idea of Pran being in love with his supposed archenemy.
He had no idea what was bothering him so much in all truth. And looking at Korn's peaceful sleeping face, he couldn't help but question himself. Because looking at Korn was bothering him. Korn's face had always troubled him. From the very moment they met.
They had been incredibly despicable to each other from the very beginning. Although Wai and Korn were from rival faculties, they had no reason to behave this way. They could have just pretended to hate each other in front of the seniors but were friends behind their backs.
He couldn't even remember what had started all the endless bickering. He remembered Pran and Pat used to hate each other's guts, and Wai, being Pran's best friend, had also decided to hate Pat. But because he couldn't do things in half, he didn't just despise Pat but his friends too.
Maybe that was how everything started. Since then, Wai and Korn have fought so much that Wai only knew how strong Korn could punch. He didn't know how delicate and gentle his hands could be. He only had his first glimpse tonight, and it was not in the best condition.
Sighing softly, Wai passed his hands through his hair, tugging a little as he tried to make sense of his thoughts. He was coming back to the same question. Why was he so bothered by Korn? What about the other man was triggering him?
Slowly and giving in to his curiosity, Wai leaned closer to Korn's asleep form. He took his time to study the other's face. Korn had long, light brown hair that he liked to tie up, especially during their rugby practices. He also had thick eyebrows above bright chocolate eyes. Amazingly long eyelashes surrounded these eyes. Wai had never seen a guy with such long lashes before. Maybe that's what bothered him? Nah, that was ridiculous. Why would he be bothered by eyelashes? It's not like Korn was pretty, was it?
Doubting, Wai leaned a little closer. Korn had very smooth golden skin with almost no imperfections, if not for a thin scar above his right eye (Wai remembered he was the one giving it to him and his heart painfully stung). He also had thin pink lips. That moron was pretty! Wai thought despite himself, slightly panicking.
His eyes lingered on the rest of Korn's body. If Korn was shorter than him, he was more muscular. He had a broad, firm, and well-formed chest and strong legs. Wai knew it like no one else. Korn had kicked him enough times for him to know of his strength.
He sighed again, not liking how he could appreciate Korn's figure before his eyes settled back on the other's hands. Even there, the skin looked smooth despite the redness on Korn's knuckles. Without realising it, Wai's fingers were gently touching the injured knuckles. Something painfully tingled in his chest.
"Aaah!" He sighed a little louder, precipitately jerking away from Korn.
Maybe he knew what was bothering him so much about Korn. Perhaps, just perhaps, he just understood what had been going on with him. First, he found that Korn looked pretty, especially his lashes and hands. Second, he liked Korn's body. Well, it wasn't like he was blind.
Third, seeing Korn injured was making him unhappy. In conclusion, he probably didn't dislike Korm as much as he believed. Perhaps, even, he liked him a tiny bit. Perhaps.
Glancing at Korn one last time, Wai stood up from the floor and walked to his room. He needed sleep. That was what he needed. All these sleepless nights had gotten to his head, and now he was delirious. For a moment, he thought he liked Korn. That was laughable.
