The pale crescent moon shone like a silvery claw in the night sky. She looked up at the blanket of stars that stretched to infinity. The occasional meowing of Oreo broke the silence of the night.

Herin smiled at him as he groomed his paw's fur. She calmly caressed the smooth, white petals of her newly brought lily. Her breath was catching it's slow pace while deeply taking in the fresh air around her, ignoring how her school bag was still beside her and she stood there in the un-changed outfit.

She didn't want to go home.

Herin grew anxious of facing Taewon after being out for hours as it's already dark. Not that she was gonna listen to his 5pm curfew lecture.  She wasn't a child anymore, she would be turning 18 in a few months.

Just the thought of her birthday coming up made her gloomy feeling fade away with a smile flashing by her dry lips.

Herin grabbed a bottle of water and sipped down, carelessly licking her lips to supposedly hydrate them. Proceeding to softly giggle when Oreo rubbed his head around her legs. Her mind wondered to how Renjun viewed Oreo, Calling him a little beast but still wanting to pet it.

She quietly laughed alone in the forest as her reflection glinted on the sparkling lake infront as police sirens blasted behind her without her knowledge.

Time skip

Herin now stood under the beaming moonlight with a cup of raspberry ice cream in her hand, shoulder's aching from the weight of heavy textbooks as she faced her house.

It was a minute away from midnight and she just reached home.

Of course she wasn't going to step in and make another scene with Taewon. Too tired to even talk, Herin let out a long sigh. Leaning her back on the wall beside, she kicked the tiny pebbles making her white sneakers rough.

As if a light bulb had lit in her head, Herin backed away from her home. Eyeing her room's window that she naturally left open in the morning for some warm sunlight to cross in. Her gaze caught the neighbor's ladder in sight that situated beside her house, And as her window was on the side of her house she hurled away her finished cup of ice cream and smiled.

Dragging the metal ladder while trying to be as silent as possible, Herin placed it right below her opened window. Her curtains swayed in the slow summer breeze, dancing along the gleaming moonlight.

She effortlessly climbed up and tossed in her school bag before getting in herself, flipping off her shoes she closed the window.

Huffing loudly when she let herself plop on her bouncy mattress, she finally grasped her phone that had been switched off for hours. Her heart suddenly clenched looking at the amount of missed calls she got from Taewon, Guilt surfaced her.

She gulped and fiddled with her fingers while glancing at her door. He must've been home since seven. Seeing as the lights were brightly on, Herin decided to go downstairs.

Softly and quietly creeping down the wooden stairs, she halted when hearing the front door open.

Taewon closed the door behind him a phone in hand as he was on call, throwing his jacket on the couch he sighed out, frustrated.

"Just get rid of him for now." He arranged his shoes neatly beside the door and walked in further,  making Herin back away and secrete into the wall.

"Oh and...keep looking around the area, See if there's anyone? "From utmost exhaustion, He rubbed his left eye.

"This doesn't feel safe at all, Don't try anything risky-" He was cut off as his gaze came across Herin standing right infront of him.

"Herin.." His eyes widened out his socket, shoving his phone away he hurried to hug Herin in his arms. She stood there, dumbfounded as she expected a completely different reaction.

Taewon gently caressed her head, running his hands above her raven black hair. Herin could feel his racing heartbeat, feeling as if it could pump out his chest any second. She pulled away with a small awkward laugh,

"Uh, What's up.?" She grazed a smile to his stressed face.

He let out a large puff of breath, "Your phone was off and the news didn't help much." Herin frowned, "The news?"

Clearing his dry throat and moving on to sit on the extended peach couch, He stroked away the sweat glands on his palms. "Police found multiple murders happen a few hours ago, right behind our street."
