"did you hear from her?"

You : still no

He groaned in frustration. Your sister had been missing for a week now. Well not necessarily missing. She ran away. She left you with nothing but a letter.

"Dear Little Sis,

I'm not gone forever. I'm with dad so there is nothing to worry about. Tell everyone that i'm safe. Tell Zeke that i'm sorry. But all i ask is 3 things. #1 be there for Zeke. #2 Don't come looking for me. #3 Forgive me. I'll see you soon.

-signed Aya"

No one knew why she ran away nor did anyone expect it. But as she wished, no one went looking for her.

It had been 4 months since she left and you spent your 18th birthday at a local diner with Zeke. He offered to bring his brother along since you guys were the same age but you had said no.

You guys talked and the waitress came to the table with a small bowl of ice cream that had a lit candle in it. The waitress, Zeke, and a few bystanders song happy birthday to you. You blew out your candle flashing Zeke a smile. You guys wrapped up lunch and headed to his car.

Zeke : Where to next birthday girl.
You : Hmm. I'm not sure. Surprise me.
Zeke : If you say so.

He started his car and began driving. The drive was much longer than you expected. The time quickly went from 2:30 to 4:30. You hardly noticed though. When it came to talking with Zeke, time seemed to speed up. You could see why Aya always wanted to keep him around.

After the long drive his car stopped at the beach. You guys stepped out of the car and walked over to the sand. Sundown was in the next hour, meaning it's wasn't too hot nor was it too cold. You guys walk on the warm sand and was met with the calm shore. You sat on the sand, and slid off your shoes. Zeke did the same sitting next to you. You moved closer to Zeke and your head settled on his shoulder. You guys talked and laughed as you watched the sunset. The whole experience was something straight out of a cheesy romance movie.

After a the sun fully set you guys made your way back to the car. You guys got in and sat there in silence for a while. You leaned over the center console giving him a kiss on the cheek.

You : Thank you for today. It has been the best birthday ever.

Zeke didn't know what come over him but instead of acknowledged what you said he pulled you into a kiss. While it did catch you by surprise, you kissed back. You got carried away and next thing you knew, you were straddling him half naked in the back seat.

He wasn't your first and you knew that he wouldn't be you last. You knew at this was wrong and all of this would probably blow up in your faces when Aya returned but neither of you cared. Neither of you wanted it to end.

From that day to the day Aya returned you and Zeke were almost inseparable. You two established a list of rules :

1. His family(specifically his mother) can't know of you.
2. He must not distract you from school.
3. Aya could never find out
4. If and when when Aya comes back, you guys must stop and never speak on it again.

Simple rules. The fourth one though, broke your heart to agree on. You weren't in love with him, but you did have love for him. It pained you to think that you had to erase everything you had all for the sake of a run away.

You guys stuck to the rules and after a year and a half Aya returned. Since then she always thought the reason why you treated her the way that you do was because she had left and not because she and her little sister loved the same person.
