1. Point of view (Pov)

Many mistakes I see are people changing between pov's too frequently, making the story seem lazily written or make it seem too fast.

Doing this may also cause confusion.

Another thing I see in almost every story, ( even those really well written with few grammatical errors ) is that the writer mix up the point of view in character x reader story's.

Example:
{ You aimed your steps toward your desk across the room a piece of paper was laying.

'What's this?' I thought, picking up the paper. }

Do you see the mistake? Maybe not, since many writers do this mistake.

It goes from 2nd pov to 1st pov, from "you" to "I".

Pov examples:
1st pov.
{ I started reading the note, the curiosity for who placed it there scratching at the back of my head }

2nd pov.
{ You started reading the note, the curiosity for who placed it there scratching at the back of your head }

3rd pov.
{ They started reading the note, their curiosity for who placed it there scratching at the back of their head }

If you do indeed accidentally do this, don't worry, it's often pretty easy to ignore in a book, but this is one of those things you might want to keep int thought when writing your first book.

It's the details that count.
