(Authors Note~ May be a little bit confronting over the course of the story, I mean no offence, hope you enjoy)
The burning sun raged through the dusted and rust filled town. A small child who was playing with some tin cans like a ball stood outside his family home. The parents watched with a smile on their face. A strange figure wandered into town, two red glistening gas tanks on his back connected to a mask. He looked down at the child who looked at him, the figure lifted his gun and shot a clear bullet into his head.
The guard banged his hands on the table, the dully lit stone room. The bounty hunter sat on a chair in front of him, his hands were cuffed together by strong cold stinging metal.
"So, Kythan the Bounty Hunter, eh?" The guard asked
"Can I help you?" He replied sarcastically.
"Drop the act, yesterday our patrol caught you massacring a town."
"Well technically finished massacring." He said leaning back on the chair and putting his boots on the table, the guard quickly pushed them off.
"Despite your crimes the Prince wants to cut you a deal. Oh there he is now." A curly brown haired teenage boy walked in wearing a rather jazzy punk white flared suit with gold beading.
"The famous bounty hunter, and all you are is a tanked teenager with out a shirt."
"What do you want Vint?" He asked spitting at the floor.
"Your disgusting."
"So is this city! Outside the kingdom walls it's a goddamn wasteland!"
"I assure you, as a citizen your opinion matters and we are doing all we can to fix it."
"Pfft."Kythan rolled his eyes and played with his blonde Mohawk.
"That's quite the tattoo you have there Bounty." Vincent said sitting himself on the table looking at his upper right chest, a small red love heart with stitches around it was shown.
"Ah it was a birthmark." He said looking down at it.
"It's a trademark." Vincent moved his shirt back to reveal one on his side waist, the guard did the same. These two without the stitches. He moved his black leather straps from around his arm to reveal one as well.
"I am the Prince of Love as well as our kingdom-"
"Wasteland." Kythan corrected.
"I am to bring the four profits together in hopes to bring peace to our land." The room stayed silent.
"So a bunch of guys showing each other heart shaped birthmarks? Kinda sounds ga-"
"Your testing my patience!" Vincent growled, "let me keep it simple for your dull mind. We are attaching a tracking device to you. I want you to find the last profit and bring them to me."
"Ah I only work for money!" Kythan barked as the guard attempted to put the tracker on.
"Jack please pay him, I want results in a week!" He turned and left. After some struggle Kythan tried to kick off the tracker on his wrist with his boots and Jack pulled out a brown pouch with jingling money in it.
"Half now half later. Oh and the air in here is clean." Jack said nodding towards his mask.
"It'll never be clean."
Kythan walked through the baron, dusty water land of his home town. He walked into the bar and sat down causing a few eyes looked up but the gentle murmur continued. He ordered a drink and soon used a straw to drink through a hatch in his mask. The fresh but murky tantalizing taste of the beverage made him feel refreshed but not in the least bit happier. A girl approached him and put a hand on his shoulder.
"Hey sugar, looking for a good time?"
"No." He said shoving her away, paying and leaving.
"Jerk!" She shouted.
"Whore!" He yelled back.
"Oh I'm running low on everything." Kirino said softly looking at her medical supplies. She was a teenage nurse who had set up a little business to help others in her town who were sick or injured. She was closing up for the night and cleaning up the last supplies when the door opened.
"Sorry we're closed!" She called pulling her white gloves back.
"I...!" The man gasped out, "need more air! He said stumbling inside.
"Oh Kythan! Sit down! I'll fetch some!"
She quickly ran back and looked through the store room and carefully picked up the red canister and struggled to carry it back to him as he sat on the surgery table. She lifted it up with a clang and startled to fiddled with the wires. She changed him over like a race car in a pit stop. He gave out a few hacks then a final inhale.
"Shh. Careful." She said rubbing his shoulders. He nodded and looked down at her.
"Hey Kirino."
"Give me a heart attack why don't you?" She mumbled laying her head down on his chest, her soft ruby red hair cushioning it. He looked down and patted her head.
"Sorry. I'll pay for the air."
"Don't be silly, anything for my best friend. I mean if it wasn't for you I'd be in the gas mask. Though I don't think I could carry those tanks there heavy!" She exclaimed nuzzling his stomach with her nose.
"You get used to them," he shrugged trying not to notice his old friend's provocative nurse uniform with her little thigh split which showed her pink love heart mark. He sighed.
"You okay?" She asked kicking off her black knee high boots.
"Can I crash here tonight?"
"What not tough enough to walk the 10 feet to your house?" She giggled. He moved to get up but she stopped him.
"I'm joking, of course you can stay. I've missed you." She said wrapping her arms around his waist.
He let out a grin and felt himself relax for the first time today. He stayed and played with her hair taking in her gentle features, her pale skin, her pink blush on the apples of her cheek, her heavy black eyelashes making her look so innocent and pure. She was fast asleep by now, a few hours had passed. He smiled as she remembered them doing this as children, back when everything was fine before the bombs were dropped on their peaceful little paradise. He moved his hand away from her, she let out a mumble. He moved away the gas mask from his face breathing in the crisp air. It was safe here, for a small amount of time. He ran his hand over his rotten fleshed wound over his mouth and face. He bent down and kissed her forehead. A soft smile grew on her face as she slept. He shuffled her so she was sitting on him, flopping around like a rag doll, he moved the tanks back and laid down and readjusted his mask.
