I am so shit at bowling. The girls thought it would be a good idea to get off campus for a couple of hours as it is the first weekend we decided to give ourselves a break from studying. But they wanted to go bowling. Bowling, really? I know its supposed to be fun, but fun is the last thing I'm having right now. I'm wearing the ugly bowling shoes they make you wear and I'm last on the leader board. I'm not a sporty type of girl, at all, I hate any type of physical activity. I decide I'm done and go to get my shoes and something to drink.
"Ellie, where you going girl?" My friend Kate calls over. I let her know what I'm doing and leave the girls to their fun.
Once I have my own shoes on my feet and a slushy in hand, I leave the 'Fun Land' complex and sit outside on the bench, with the sun on my face. It's late May so the weather is perfect. Across the street from Fun Land is a supermarket, I watch as a small group of guys leave with what looks like BBQ essentials and a crate of beer. One of the guys catches my eye.
I'd say he's defiantly older than me-only by a few years. I'm only a sophomore at Ohio state. He's got a boyishly handsome face, light brown hair, tall. He is dressed casually in plain white shirt, that stretches' over his huge biceps and taunt chest and shoulders. He pairs dark jeans and white sneakers with the look.
He must feel my gaze, because mid conversation with one of the guys he is with, he looks up and meets my eyes. He smiles a heart stopping grin at me and I am so hypnotized I can't seem to return it. They walk to a car that is now on the side of the road the bench I'm sat on is, and he is still staring at me. They load their groceries into the boot of the car and I look away.
I turn my head so suddenly, needing to escape his gaze before I melt and my whole body jerks with the motion, sending my slushy down my bare legs. Why did I decide to wear shorts today? That's Freezing! "Shit" I curse maybe a little too loud.
God, I'm twenty years old and I cant even drink a slushy without getting myself in a mess.
Suddenly the hottie crouches in front of me, paper towels in hand. "Here" he says handing me one. I cant meet his eyes- I'm too embarrassed. "Ah, slushy's are the worst, it will leave your skin all sticky" he says sympathetically, I think he is trying to have a conversation with me?
"Tell me about it" I mutter under my breath as I wipe down my legs. He hands me another and I thank him.
"Don't worry about it, we brought way to many anyway. The guys always go overboard when we shop for our BBQ days" he laughs out. It was pretty obvious they where having a BBQ with the hot weather and one of the guys having multiple disposable BBQ trays in hand.
"It is a nice day to have a BBQ," I look up at his perfect face. "Thankyou again..." I trail off, trying to get his name.
"Luke" he smiles and if I thought that smile was perfect from across the street, boy was I wrong. Its more than perfect, its beautiful. Perfectly aligned, pearly white teeth stare back at me with those beautiful blue eyes. Wow.
He holds out his hand and I shake it. "Ellie" I say as he encloses my small hand in his huge one. It instantly sends tingles up my arm straight to my already fluttering heart. "That's a beautiful name. It's nice to meet you Ellie." I blush furiously. Smile still on his face he rises to his full height and looks down at me. I stand too, so I don't feel so small but there isn't much difference. I'm 5ft4 and still awaiting my growth spurt.
"So listen, I don't want to leave you here covered in a freezing cold drink and we're headed back to my friends place now. Can we drop you home on the way? I know you probably don't want to get in a car full of guys you don't know, but I wouldn't be a gentleman if I didn't try to help." He flashes that smile again and I feel like the worlds biggest tomato.
